Im interested in going to the Flames game in edmonton in january and have to ask is it dangerous if i go with my Flames jersey? I have never been in an opposing arena before. Will i get drinks n stuff spilled on me or should i jus go without it?

Yeah, perhaps that, and the fact that when you start losing games despite playing trap hockey, everything is terrible. The way they win games by hanging on by a thread preserving one goal leads by boring everyone out of their mind won't last forever.

Everything comes up roses right now and everyone is in love with clogging up the neutral zone and leaning on McDavid to skate really fast up the ice, but considering the Oilers have barely moved in the standings despite piling up points for a few weeks goes to show that their success is very fragile, and if they go into even a minor losing streak over the next few games they might lose ground fast. Let's see what they think of trap hockey then.

I'll give him props for actually getting the Oilers to play with some structure though, which is something none of their previous coaches has managed to do.

Just be aware that most Edmontonians are illiterate, so the "C" often frightens them because of the flames around the letter. In fact during this time of year they may want to huddle around you, thinking that the flames are real and provide real warmth.

The only time Ive had problems is Rogers Arena...then again the only City I ever have issues in is Vancouver so it is no suprise to have issues in Rogers arena

McDavid not holding onto his stick and DeBrusk calling for a penalty on the play was one of the worst PBP calls I’ve ever witnessed live.

Sometimes, watching the oilers broadcasts, just feels so surreal. Like they are a state owned team or something.

DeBrusk towards the end of the game said that the Oilers were relentlessly controlling the play the whole night.

No they weren't as much as he'd like to believe they were because they were a goal up. That team was disorganized consistently through 60 minutes and it glaringly showed.

This says it all right here...

But I know personally it was really hard for me. You come in as an older guy, but far from being one of the better players on the team. So you can be a leader with experience, but I’m not a game-changer. I’m like a No. 4 or 5 defenseman. So your voice only goes so far with people that only respect how good your toe drag is and whether or not you’re out partying.

So your voice doesn’t carry much weight with people that don’t put value on those aspects that I was bringing from Boston, or that Dallas was trying to instill in the team. So it was not only frustrating, but it really pissed me off because it was a waste of years in your NHL career, where it’s just you never get those back.

While hes not wrong on that account, he also made way, way more money slumming it in Edmonton than he ever would have anywhere else.

He won his Cup in Boston and then cashed in and cashed in hard on Katz's dime.

He may been a 4-5 defenceman but he was making 2-3 money that was not on anyone else's table.

Its hard to listen to someone complain about winning the Cup and then phoning in the end of their career on the back on some very generous paycheques.

Edmonton is No Good but sorry Andy, if you wanted Job Satisfaction more than money then thats all you had to do. Take a lot less money to play for a much better team.

But I doubt when that contract offer was on the table his altruism-alarm was screaming that he didnt deserve that much money and that he should take less to fit into the cap of a good team.

And then theres the fact that he was a 4-5 Dman on Edmonton. The worst team in the League. He could take less money but he'd have been risking AHL or pressbox time.

I always liked Ference until he became a cheap-shotting Oiler. He very literally got his cake and got to eat it too at the expense of the Oilers, the only drawback was having to live in Dumpmonton and having to haul that horrid Oil-drop over his head on an almost nightly basis.

But he could wipe his tears with money.

Go to the highest bidder in free agency which happens to be the worst run NHL franchise in the history of the game and after the fact complain that you wasted years of your NHL career? Some of these guys need to be a little more honest with themselves. Sure the situation sucked for him there but it's not like he didn't know what he was getting into.

Hitchcock came in and brought a trap system that works well when you have an inept lineup. It won't be long before he gets the call from McTavish to loosen up so that McDavid can win the Art Ross and that Katz wants Poolparty on his line like he was told to do when they hired him.
