I love the Kijiji people I have been telling to pick items up from the alley. My neighbor leaves so much crap in the alley even the garbage man won't take but some Kijiji people aren't to proud to take.
Another's man's crap is another's treasure.

I don't go on kijiji much but did so this morning to look for a small fish tank for my daughter.
people sure are greedy. you'd think they'd lower the price to get rid of their unwanted crap.

this one fish tank set up, the guy was asking $7 less than I could buy it new. ad was about two weeks old.
So I message him with what I thought was a fair offer, and he messages back not to waste his time with such a low ball, insulting offer.

whatever. maybe he should have taken the "obo" off his listing.

not worth wading through the over priced crap to find an inexpensive 20gallon tank.
think i'll just tell my daughter we'll put the money from our empties towards something new.

My wife bought a table off kijiji a few weeks ago. We went to pick it up and when she counted the money out neither her nor the people noticed she miss counted and accidentally shorted them $40. As I was loading it in the truck I asked if she counted it properly and she realized she hadn't. Went back to the door and the people were in the process of tossing their kid's room thinking he stole the $40. Some folks trust kijiji strangers more than their kids!

Could not agree more. Over the past 5 years I have bought all of the following through Kijiji:

Gibson Explorer
Gibson Doublecut
Approx 20 Boss Pedals
Mesa Cabinet
Lexicon Rack Mount Effects Unit
Drum Kit
Tascam Multitracker
Roland Drum Machine
Korg Keyboard
JBL Speakers
Yamaha Studio Monitors
Soundcraft board
Shure/AKG/Sennheiser Mics

Every single one of these guys were great, agreed on a price easy, both happy. Talked gear and music for 20 mins. I've spent thousands on new gear from music stores over the years, no more of that.

Would you take an etransfer for an item you are selling?

Just make sure you have the cash in your account before giving up the item and you should be good to go.

Did this yesterday just had them hang around till it arrived in my email and I deposited it before I gave them the item.

They CAN cancel it though so make sure you accept it prior to handing over the item.

I would for anything under a hundred bucks, but anything of value where it's a few hundred or even a thousand, this can be sketchy because they can claim identity theft and have it reversed by the bank afterwards

Okay, I’m not the only one who noticed a huge difference! I put a couple things up on both platforms about a month ago and got full asking price and a line of people asking to be next if the first buyer fell through by the time someone asked me if I’d take 50% less than I posted it for on Kijiji.

The difference is night and day. Polite, civil responses, no crazy low balls and like 5x more replies than on Kijiji.

Crazy what a difference a public profile and name makes.

And I recently realized Kijiji changed their layout and are encouraging profile/names now. Must be taking a big hit.

You are thinking of PayPal.

According to Interac e-transfers are non refundable.

Y...I sold my Godin guitar with the Roland guitar synth on Kijiji for a fair price. No haggling. The guy was so easy to deal with I threw in a few extras for him.

FB Marketplace? It will be fun when a $20 item breaks in 3 years resulting in a buyer wanting a refund. Or worse, as a buyer everyone on FB will know that you just bought a $3000 item and where your address is.

Yup, FB market place is the way to go. Especially more localized selling groups. Haven't used Kijiji in years now.

This is great. Never knew about FB marketplace. I hate kijiji. I'm cleaning house and getting rid of stuff and have been using kijiji. It reinforces my general dislike of people. Yes, I'm becoming an old curmudgeon.

I renamed my black bin 'Kijiji'. I put anything I don't want anymore in there, and within two weeks it's gone! No hassles at all!

So the FB marketplace looks cool, but how do I expand my searches beyond 100km of Calgary or some city?

I would like to browse provincially or nationally for items. If a good enough deal is there, I would arrange something.
