This is the right thing IMO, he had a nice taste of what it takes. Now go dominate the AHL, work on the details and force them to bring you up again.

I know 10 games played burns a year of a player's ELC (for CHLers) but what is the # of games on the roster that counts towards UFA season?

Is it 45 or 50 or 60? I seem to recall the Oilers sending Draisaitl down that first year to preserve a year before UFA. Only to over-pay him as an RFA! LOL!

40 games on the NHL roster (does not mean played) to count towards UFA.

I am a little surprised it took this long, and don't really see how it can hurt.

This pre-season is just a horrible indicator of anything as the competition/intensity level is probably below the AHL on most nights. Regardless of what happens the rest of the year, Dube will have learned a lot during his time with the Flames which positions him even better for next year.
