Interesting, that was a good line, 29 goals with 26 assists for Centre Erik Haula. The 27 year old is currently on IR with only 2 goals through 15 games. David Perron, who has moved back to the Blues for the third time, had 16 goals and a whopping 50 assists last season.

This is what I hope for. The Flames are winning now so I don't really care what Neal does for the time being. He does seem to be improving. The stretch and post season is where I hope he makes the difference. His contract does make me nervous though.

What gets me about neal is for most psrt his scoring/shooting is historically around that 10 to 13% this year its about 5%. Last string of games he has had good chances. To me its a matter of time until law of aggs catches up and starts scoring.

I just know that if or when injuries kick in, it can't hurt to have a guy like Neal waiting for his chance on one of the top lines.

We haven't really seen his nasty yet either. Maybe his scoring is somehow connected to that.

If Tre could swing a deal like Neal for another struggling vet I'd do it. Neal has been a distraction so far and has shown he doesn't fit in the top 2 lines and isn't producing on the 3rd.

I think you either move him or acquire a play making winger/center for him to play with.

Of anyone on the team not doing their role AND whining about it, Neal and Smith are the big sore thumbs. (Smith looked good in Arizona though, but that is a really bad team.)

NHL dressing rooms are not utopias. You have to battle each and everyday to earn your keep. Nothing wrong with having disgruntled players. You SHOULD have disgruntled players.

How bout he stops whining about not being on the top line and score more than one legit goal? Would be the proper response. He's looked bad on lines 1-3 so far and hasn't had chemistry with much of anyone. He was brought here to score 25 goals. I don't see any inclination he will get remotely close. I see 10g 15a right now as where he might end up.

I'd honestly rather have brouwer right now. He could of plugged the 4th line RW and we could of had Dube playing on the third line.

He’s been whining about not being on the top line?

When?

Reddit rumors. Based on his attitude and demeanor though, I believe it.

Do you also believe he is the only player in the league complaining about ice time? Or do you, like myself, think that number is likely over 75% of the players?

If a player doesn’t want more ice time, I don’t want him on the team.

There was Reddit rumors of Neal calling out Smith in the dressing room. In an interview during the Coyotes game he made it clear that never happened.

Or Neal could be pulling a Hamonic and actually take a season to settle in and rediscover his game on a new team in a new role.

By that logic the Sharks should also just cut their losses and deal Karlsson for another "middling vet dman". He hasn't been anywhere near franchise quality over there.

Sometimes players don't just pick up where they left off wuth an entirely new team and circumstance.

But Neal has in 10 of 10 seasons in the league demonstrated that he can put the puck in the net. Hard to be more proven. But this may be the first time he needs a bit of time to adjust to a move. Let's give him that. The team isn't falling apart right now or anything.

Neal is not in the Brouwer stratosphere at all.

He's not scoring but not a major liability out there. He's been looking better and better as of late, which can be a reason for the uptick in shots and scoring chances he has been able to generate. The team is leading the division and looking good doing so regardless of Neal's production struggles.

None of these things could have been said for almost all of brouwer's tenure here.

Not sure why is such a big problem for you...

Can we keep this topic to trade rumors and speculation as its titled by chance?

I don't want to be a debbie downer but surely we can talk about James Neal vs Troy Brouwer in the Neal thread or perhaps start one should it not exist.
The mere mention of Brouwer gives me terrible flash backs.

Neal > Brouwer on an effort level per night alone... brouwer didn't ever seem to give an f out there. Neal seems to care a lot and is just snakebitten. Big difference.
