Just seems to me that every joke and point has been made at this time, and at some point we should just like having a better team and talk more about that, then past mistakes.
But if people still want to talk about Gully they can do what they want. I think there are more interesting things to talk about but so be it.
I'm pretty sure CP is based on saying the same joke over and over and over. Who can stop people from making GG comments? No one can. No one. GG now wears sweatpants and dress shoes. GG is no good. The longest running thread at CP is just the same things repeated. GG has been gone for a few months. The comparisons aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
The repetitive jokes don't even need to make sense. This Guy Scored is now posted when there is a guy in front of the net, with the puck on his stick, and no one around him. It's correctly done in post #4 of this thread, but posts 2, 11, and 30 make no sense.

You still see quite a bit of defense over the coaching the last two seasons. Anywhere from "The advanced stats say he was doing better than his record indicated" to "The players share the blame".
It's still a topic from both sides of the debate, he's our last coach as recently as this calendar year. It's especially topical to compare Bill Peter's successful coaching style to the guy he literally just replaced, you have to.
FWIW I thought GG hockey was better then Brent Sutter hockey. At least with GG there were occasions where the team looked good, and even made the playoffs once.
B. Sutter completely neutralized Iginla and co. into playing his stifling defensive hockey that lead to nowhere.

Hmmm I never said anything about his advanced stats. I read those threads, including from Bingo, but I don't understand advanced stats well enough to draw conclusions from them in the same way. I don't disagree with Bingo's points but they were his points - not mine. EDIT: Perhaps you weren't attributing those points to me specifically just that those are things people are saying.
The latter was pretty much my point though yes.
And furthermore my point was that I didn't think a coaching change would do enough absent changes to roster. We needed both. We got both. And its working.
All good things.

You're one of them filthy Branch Savardians, aren't you?
I don't even know exactly why I hated him to be honest, I just remember him being a mediocre coach who had a very public feud with a player who we sure could've used centering Iginla for the next decade.
The best part of Gilbert was that he led us to Darryl Sutter.

Gilbert's season was weird - they had an incredible start and he was a genius. Then they fell off the map. But he was probably better than Don Hay.
IMO the Flames have had two great coaches - Sutter and Johnson. The rest is a bunch of mediocrity or worse. There's a few guys who had good records but great teams to work with and just didn't get it done - Risebrough and King, I'm looking at you. And Crisp IMO stood on Bob Johnson's shoulders to reach the cup.
The other Sutters I feel bad for - Brian was coach when the Flames couldn't afford good players and Brent had the refusal of the ownership to rebuild. Pierre Page to a degree too. I couldn't tell you if they were good coaches or not.
I feel like Keenan and Playfair were just sorta there, coaching Sutter's team.
IMO Hartley is overrated here. Gulutzen wasn't very good but he had some very large personnel problems to overcome as well, including in goal. It would surprise some to see his winning percentage close to Badger's. I think at the end of the day, he just isn't an inspiring head coach.

Heh, I'm just teasin'. The whole Gilbert vs. Savard thing and the battle lines that were drawn here was my introduction to Calgarypuck, so it stands out.
And I think people dislike Gilbert then, and now, because he was the OG GG. You left the Dome with an unpleasant taste in your mouth as you looked up to heavens and asked yourself "what the hell was that?"

Janko line had shift (10 min 2nd) that resulted in Kylington creeping in and Janko finding him. Bad luck and bad bounce for Oliver but great set up. Offence from all depths of the roster.

Sorry, yeah I was just illustrating that it's not always his detractors that bring him up, that there's still fans on this board that partially defend his time here.
Gerard Gallant and Galileo Galilei are acceptable GGs that could coach the Flames. Possibly even Gilbert Gottfried. I'm sure his voice would make his pep talks hilarious, and certainly better than no pep talk.
