Dion, as someone who doesn't live in Calgary, I am interested in why you're following this so closely, as you have no skin in the game?

Yea that's pretty whack, there's a fair amount of losers there I'm sure.

I voted No but it's not something I'm happy about or feel like celebrating.

Why?

Lots of people have put a lot of effort into this without being bankrolled....no reason they shouldnt celebrate a victory.

It's basically a party of status quo. It's not the same as a political election where you're endorsing someone into a position of power. But hey, any reason to drink right?

I doubt they have accurate numbers but even if they did the votes were only at 64,000. Which prob meant up to 11am and all the old fogeys voting in the morning. The National just said the votes at 6pm were past 207,000.

The volunteers who worked on the No side deserve a party to be sure, but it is still pretty funny.

Side story: car parked in middle of road with hazards on and nobody In it... on way to YES party. Then police and ambulance... then we see this man staggering trying to walk a straight line. Very drunk. Just saw officer toss car keys to other officer. Not good. At all.

I suppose its slightly odd but in a way it makes more sense. You contributed to your side "winning". Partying because some random guy you've never met before finished second in cross country skiing isn't exactly much better.

Nor do I, but as a tax paying Albertan and Canadian I still have a real interest.

yes because all the seniors and stick in the muds voted early. Late results will change it. There is NO WAY it will be 65-35 No!

I don't want to see my many friends and relatives in Calgary burdened with the cost over runs of the Olympics.

Probably not 65-35, if the today numbers hold it'll be around 58-42.
