Wow some of these trades are absolutely ridiculous... As a general rule before you post a potential trade offer just replace Nylander with Tkachuk.
If you get that disgusted look on your face and think why the hell would I ever trade Tkachuk for a package of Frolik, Stone, Neal, or whatever X player I no longer like on Calgary than delete your post lol. Hopefully this cuts back on ridiculous trade offers.

I still feel if this does involve the Flames it starts with Hamonic due to his ties with Tavares and the fact that he checks off basically every box in terms of what the Leafs are looking for in a top 4 D.
Hamonic + Jankowski is a deal I could see being made with the emergence of Andersson and with Stone being wasted as a 7th D right now and that’s not to say I don’t like Hamonic; I think the trade that acquired him is overly criticized and that Hamonic is often under appreciated until recently by a good amount here.
Going forward we would have to shed further salary in Frolik/Stone; add that to the buyouts coming of the books, a potential cap increase and a reallocation of Smith’s salary as well and it is doable.
Frolik to Carolina for Van Riemsdyk
Stone to Ottawa for Pitts 3rd pick
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Nylander - Neal
Bennett - Backlund - Czarnik
Mangiapane - Dube - Ryan
Hathaway
Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Andersson
Valimaki - Van Riemsdyk
Kylington
Rittich (Re-sign in the off-season)

I would do Rasmus and Bennett. Two good players with potential upside. Even though the player is in the same trade value stratosphere as tkachuk in a vacuum, this situation is anything but and it has certainly hampered his overall value.

Or how about Jankowski or Neal and Andersson?
*Flames already have Brodie on top RD, room needs to be made it the top 4 for either one of Hamonic or Andersson.
It could very well be only one of Brodie or Hamonic is re-signed after next season.

The sports twitter rumour mongerer,
'incarcerated bob' tweeted that he's hearing the flames and ducks are in on nylander with a hefty starting price of a rhd, top9 fwd, and high pick(s).....
In my view, teams that are doing well, don't tend to rip out large chunks of the roster core midseason. I don't see any way Calgary is in the mix. Especially when I think the main asset the flames had to land nylander has already been traded (Hamilton).
