Has a player ever been released mid-game? Smith might need to make a few saves to avoid that situation.

Haven't read through the thread yet, but yes, that was a bad goal on Smith because - as has been the case all year - he didn't come out and cut off the angle.
Were there lots of other problems on the play? Absolutely. Doesn't excuse Smith's lack of a save though.
