True, but if I was 80+ years old, I would be voting YES.
I mean screw it, I'd be dead by 2026.

Huh? Traffic is usually dead during Stampede because no one is working. The train is always full during rush hour, Stampede or not (and winter has far more transit complaining). The cost of entrance is a complaint made even by people who actually like the Stampede.

Just got back from Cardel rec in Shawnessy and....yikes.
Lines were over 100 people long and wait times 25-30 minutes. Im going to go back around11 tomorrow as the guy said it was much less busy earlier on.
If I was to guess looking at the crowd, they would be heavily weighted to the no side, but that was middle of the afternoon and an older demographic for sure.

Afternoon rush hour is awful, morning is generally better because again downtown is a ghost town for work. Anyway, if we do end up hosting I hope we can avoid the cowboy ####. It's really unbecoming at this point.

This x 100. I'm glad we can agree on something (other than E=NG, obviously)!

#### that. In 2026, I’ll be wearing my boots and my ‘88 Sun Ice duster for two straight weeks leaving floor pizzas at the bottom of every C-Train staircase in the city.

I voted YES today in the advance poll. Quite a turn out and line-up in Kincora, somewhat surprised at this. Part of me thinks this is a lot of public money to spend, but then again if we don't get the Olympics I don't see money simply being 're-allocated' instead. I do see the benefits of rallying around something, this city is in dire need of that.
Though it is of course partisan, I liked this video, saw it AFTER I voted: https://www.facebook.com/yescalgary2...3225391520065/

Just heard that over 14,000 votes were cast already today....that sounds very very high to me. Good for all to get out and be heard though.

More details to come (certainly don’t take it from me) but reports coming out tonight that the Federal minister of public safety will sign an agreement to pick up security cost overruns (CBC), and the $200m overrun insurance is available at likely a lower cost than the budgeted $20 or 10% for those doubting its availability.

Nobody cares about any of these sports normally so i cant understand what changes other than your expected to spend billions for a couple weeks. No thanks.

Both of these things were presented to the Olympic Assessment Committee of Council today.

Hard to say how big of a role that plays. Over 30% of this board voted that not using public funds for an arena was worth the Flames leaving. In another poll, almost 50% voted that they didn’t want anything more than $50m going to fund the arena, even if it meant the Flames leaving.
“This board support spending on sports projects” is not a reliable narrative.

And I would guess in the general public you'd see 40% and 60%. But both of those deals were objectively terrible, whereas this one is far more reasonable.
