Probably because Tkachuk and Neal are two of our slowest forwards. Peters has talked about trying to pair slower players with faster ones.
I think that really is a big issue with the Flames is the team speed.
They have some fast guys like Gaudreau, Dube, Czarnik, but unfortunately, 3 of the "core guys" are real slow (Monahan, Tkachuk, Neal). Jankowski is a bit lumbering as well.
The speed thing is a real issue on the backcheck and in the defending. They can try as hard as they want, but they aren't getting back in time to help out.

Jankowski is not lumbering. He only appears that way because he is so freaking tall... *EDIT* Well, maybe that actually means he is "lumbering," but it's not a problem because he is definitely not slow.

After reading through some post game commentary by fans, I was surprised to find out so many have turned on Babcock and Marleau. Goes to show that anyone can turn into a whipping boy.

It's easy. Follow the NFL's lead and make public mid season firings a thing.
