YOU! Are Times' Person of the Year
Boy... this seems like a cop-out... but makes sense.
Quote:
The "Great Man" theory of history is usually attributed to the Scottish philosopher Thomas Carlyle, who wrote that "the history of the world is but the biography of great men." He believed that it is the few, the powerful and the famous who shape our collective destiny as a species. That theory took a serious beating this year.

This is what I've been trying to tell people! I'm freaking awesome!!
Heh, glad to see people are getting that lame "great people" theory of history out of their heads. Anyone who has been trained in History in the past 20 or so odd years already gets that there is more to the French Empire then Napolean.
Still, seems kinda lame of Time Magazine to further legitimize the awfulness that is Web 2.0 buzz. Oh well.
I repeat, I'm awesome!

Sounds like Time magazine has become pretty lazy to me.

Unfortunately, Time's "Person of the Year" award has lost it's direction lately. It's supposed to be for the man, woman, couple, group, idea, place, or machine that "for better or worse, has most influenced events in the preceding year."
Technically Bin Laden should have gotten it after 9/11, but the editors just can't seem to do that - I suspect they're seriously worried about killing the magazine if they do that.

I'm pretty sure there would be a boycott of epic proportion, which in turn is not good for buisness.

While true.. That would be the death of a magazine.

Gotta agree with Hulse.
The award should be about impact, not necessarily positive impact.
In this case, the award going to "you" could mean we all suck
