Woman gets jail for cocaine smuggling

Who the heck makes those type of statements to a newspaper? It's really stupid of the guy - not brave. Pretty much says he was involved to a large degree, and ensures that when he messes up the authorities will come down hard on him. None of the characters in this story are likable and I don't feel sorry for any of them.

To the guy's own admission he helped get $30,000,000 worth of cocaine seized and is now telling authorities there was (probably exaggerated) $3 billion out there? I have a feeling the type of people moving that amount aren't the type to piss off.

Unless he really is just bragging about smuggling a couple billion dollars worth of drugs.

the story is laughable but pathetic in how the young women were seemingly fulled by "likes" of their photos. i am assuming that lots of these likes were from random users of instagram.

also had to chuckle where one of them borrowed $20,000 from and "acquaintance" to reboot her life. Who would have not seen that the payback would have involved more than just money.

seems hard to wrap your head around how authorities were able to zero in on the suitcases; but lots of more product slipped thru their customs.

Well, the way instagram really works these days is if you are a beautiful woman that can pull like 10k+ likes on your photos you get a TON of free stuff. Trips, products, invites to special events etc etc. It can become quite the life.

Social media sucks in these young women and their life revolves around likes. This is an extreme example, but it's not rare for girls around the world to live for likes. There is so much fake-ness out there, and I think young impressionable girls think they have to be perfect in order to be accepted.

It's not just limited to girls, or to young girls. Studies have shown that 'likes' trigger the release of dopamine which is a 'feel good' molecule to our brain. It's almost like a chemical addiction in some ways.
