Man is the Brodie hatred going overboard.

The guy has had a rough game or two in the last stretch, but he's not alone. Statistically it's pretty hard to suggest he's anything but the team's 2nd or 3rd best defenseman.

If he goes a long stretch without Giordano and has those numbers die he'll still be an NHL defenseman, but at least some will have a case that Giordano propped him up.

I get playing Lindholm on the right side during even strength but why not have him and Johnny switch sides. I hope that Neal can get that chance tonight on the right side being a left shot. It looks like he's playing net front, which is fine, but I'd love to see him line up to unleash that shot.
Johnny has a weak enough shot as it is... I don't think him taking one timers is really a valid threat to any team.

I don't understand the talk about trade talks.

When do you make the distinction between having some nice depth and needing to make a trade to make room for guys who can play? Seem to be a really blurry line.

If we trade a Stone or a Brodie. Then who plays if other guys go down? Prout? Kylington?

It's not so much about the one timers as the position of the puck. If Johnny is going to distribute, it's done better on the off wing while still allowing for the shot, even if the velocity is weak.

Probably one of the top PPs in the league is the Flyers.
Giroux shoots right while distributing from the left side.
Voracek is a left shot and take the one timers from the right.
Ghost is the lone D at the top.
Simmonds is deadly in front.
And Couturier plays in the middle or behind the net.

We have those pieces, but their not playing in the right spots.
Johnny can QB from the right side being a left shot.
Lindholm can shoot from the left side.
Gio up top.
Neal or Tkachuk in front.
Mony in the middle.

I know I watch and I'm not the coach, but does that not make more sense?

Last year GG would’ve rolled the same exact lines, nice to see Peters holding players accountable. Brodie earned that demotion

The issue is once again leaking chances.

Last year the Flames had only 3 players allow more than 11 high danger chances per 60 minutes. A good hockey team allows about 8 per game five on five.

Those players last year were Sean Monahan 12.5, Johnny Gaudreau 11.9 and Micheal Ferland 11.5.

This year (are you read for this?) ...

Austin Czarnik leads the team with the fewest at 11.2, everyone else is over 12. 12 players are over 15, and 3 players are over 20.

That is terrible.

Brodie-Stone eh. That was our 2nd pair back in the 2017 playoffs. I wonder if they will see tougher matchups than Hanifin-Hamonic given how much Hanifin has struggled this year. Not that I want Stone taking tougher matchups given he hasn't even handled 3rd pair duty well.

Nope, FBI gonna donate $60 at the end of the game tonight. Neal will pot a hatty, and all on PP.

Rasmus Andersson promoted to top pairing but also taken off the power-play.

Johnny does not have a weak shot at all, he just doesn't use it nearly enough.

I guess Tkachuk and Dube are the passers on unit 2. If it works, it saves Backlund a bit, for his role as shutdown C and top PK man.

Incoming Backlund has great season but people complain about his point totals because he didn't pick up a few chintzy PP assists

Huh? They played parts of one game together.

Which is ironic because the only two times the PP looked good in Montreal is when Andersson was setup on the off side one timer.

Interesting that 2/3rds of the 4th line is on the 2nd powerplay unit. Not that I disagree with it.
