Well that was fun! Rittich stood tall. Let's hope we see more of him!

I can't help but think of all the skepticism during the preseason -- yes he struggled, but this is the same guy that was lights out virtually every time he got pressed into duty last year until Smith got hurt.
This year: 2 wins in 2 starts, which is exactly what you want from a backup. The rest is just gravy: 1.30 GAA, 0.962 save%.
|
Some people here were sending him down in favor of Gillies, who is now struggling in the AHL with 85.2% SV% and 4.79 GAA in 4 games. Only shows goalies are a different breed and its really hard to understand them.

It’s 6 degrees out. It’s cold. His hair is probably wet, and he’d like to stay warm. Didn’t your mother tell you to put a toque on when it was cold, or are you too cool for it?

Not sure why Czarnik is not playing. We could of used his speed tonight.

Instead of Hathaway? Tough call, but Hathaway with 2 goals is pretty hard to argue with.

Gotta wonder once Hamonic is back whether or not Brodie sits for a game or two. I can't see either of the rookies sitting at this point.

I'm no betting man, but good lord I wouldn't be surprised to see James Neal take a seat soon. Dude's paid mega millions to produce and he is doing anything but.

Rittich was awesome, deserves to get the next start without question. I hope he can seize the opportunity unlike last year.
Brodie was pretty bad tonight... Good on Peters not being shy to change up that pairing and good on Andersson for doing alright, heck, throwing in a great open ice hit to boot.
Valimaki looks fantastic. They have given him a safe and controlled role so far, but he looks like the real deal.
I am not sure what they do when hamonic comes back. I am also concerned about how Brodie handles the demotion...
Anyways. Loved seeing the flames get the W, and a pair of great goals for Gaudreau and Hathaway (!!!).

Who comes out? Nobody in the top6 warrants sitting. Bennett, Hathaway, Dube, have all been playing well. The only guys i think are debatable are Jankowski and neal. I think it is way too early to be sitting neal, not because he doesn't deserve it, but the optics and distraction could be painful. The guy looks lazy too me, which is shocking.

Hes been gradually getting better each game. I think sitting him is the wrong method to get him going. I also think he is helping Bennett.

He was starting to play a lot on the perimeter. He will draw in at some point and I hope that he shows a bit more drive to the net.

I think Neal is slow and sometimes can't catch up to his lines mate and that sometime might seems like he is lazy.
