That doesn't mean anything with regard to what discipline (if any) was handed out, though. Even if you're suspended you can still practice.

Yeah, that's true. Just replying to Resolute's question regarding whether or not the hearing had taken place.

I'm surprised the result has taken this long to leak, honestly.

Late to the party...

I don’t care if you’re Pettersson, Crosby, or Rinaldo, that body slam was very unnecessary.
You can see that Matheson swung down his arm to finish the slam, it was intended. I’m sure he was also aware of Pettersson’s body weight.

Check Pettersson hard, that’s your “Welcome to the NHL”. Slamming him on the hard ice? You can sit your fine ass for a game. That, or get a warning. I wasn’t a fan.

Eric Francis being Eric Francis...

Heard the guys in Vancouver 650 talking about how tweeted this:
Leafs-free radio continues on the EFShow on @Sportsnet960 with a chance to win two tix to Thursday’s Pizza Pigout. Name the finishing move Matheson used on Patterson and best ones get tix. Send me the answer on Twitter. Creativity counts

Pretty classless but not surprising, given the author.

Yes.

That just seems really unnecessary.

Not exactly sure why Francis thought that was a good idea.

A guy shouldn't be punished for being physical, this world is going to the pansies.

Sorry calling bs on this. Body slams have no place in the game. Not a hockey play and not incidental to a hockey play. I don't think Johnny would handle this any better. Has nothing to do with ability to play in the league.

The moment he used his arm to forcefully slam Pettersson into the ice, it was no longer a hockey play. He had already neutralized the player when he hit him into the boards in a legal manner.

The world gaining a new understanding of the human brain, and the risks associated with brain damage being characterized as the world "going to the pansies" is ridiculous.

That means they should eliminate the NFL and CFL.

That play or worse happens all the time on bigger guys...normally without even being penalized. Honestly this one is a tough call

This play is so low down the list of dirty plays committed in the NHL I don't even know why I'm wasting my time arguing about it. It's not even as dirty as the hit Andersson took in Denver for crying out loud. I have said several times it was unnecessary but you can't ignore that this was the product of a really slight man playing in a professional contact sport.

It means they should put every available safety precaution in place to protect those who are playing the sport, and then hold those who break the rules and attempt to injure their peers accountable for their actions.

Probably with equipment on. He's got a really tiny frame. Someone on 960 today (Friedman?) said he was the slightest NHL player he's ever seen.
