Hamonic out week to week with Facial Fracture - update - practicing with the team
Francis just tweeted Hamonic suffered a broken jaw from his fight tonight. He did return with a full shield near the end of the first. Can anyone confirm? Would suck if he missed any time
Update: 10.05.18 - Treliving indicated this morning on the Fan that Hamonic will miss some time. Does this mean Andersson plays with Hanifin or do they bump Stone up?
Update: 10.05.18 - Francis - Hamonic “week to week”

I wouldn't be surprised. He took a pretty bad beating in that fight unfortunately.

Am I missing something? I didn't see Hamonic with a full shield at all after he came back, was I just not paying attention?

Cue people thinking it should be Prout so he can punch some faces and have the ice tilt towards the Flames zone when he's on.

And THAT is why you don’t trade Stone before the season even starts.

And this is why you keep Stone on the team. He can fill in for Hamonic with Hanifin.

If Stone had been traded, Prout would have been in and he would have handled Gudbranson better and Hamonic wouldn’t have a broken jaw.
I don’t know what positive that Stone brought tonight that Prout wouldn’t have. Just because Stone makes 3 times more money doesn’t mean that he is 3 times better than Prout. With the top 4 the Flames have and a stud rookie like Valimaki, they can take a minor downgrade from Stone to Prout if it means keeping your core players safe.

No you saw Pettersons face replayed on bench 19 times and his parents in the crowd 25 times. But the guy who has a shield and toughs it out gets barely a mention.
Also think he may have been in concussion protocol, not for the jaw shot, but for the cheap shot he took as he was already clearly injured and falling and hit the ice pretty hard from that extra shot.

I would be surprised if he came back out at the end of the first if it was in fact broken.

Just went back and looked at the highlights - Hamonic is indeed wearing a little chin visor - not a full shield a la Brouwer or Emelin though.

Man.... This feels like a bad omen to Hamonic's tenure with the flames especially after the year he had last year.

Hes a tough guy, he will be fine.
He is a strong defender in our zone and I have no problem with his overall game.
One thing that is obvious is he can't fight guys that have a massive reach advantage... no one can really in the NHL as you are mostly stationary and holding onto one another's collars.
I like our team but it would be nice to find a guy that can play regularly and take on heavy weights.
Engelland was so valuable for that reason.

Is he going to play with the speculated broken jaw? That would make him super tough. But I would prefer he super heal that jaw and super get back to tip top shape to defend and help us in the playoffs.
