Yeah, Treliving speaking glowingly about Andersson. He'll be an NHLer ASAP.

Included Kylington in with Valimaki and Andersson as guys that were knocking on the door. Thinks Kylington is close too.

Brodie needs to pick up his game, and he did not look great in preseason imo. My outlook on Brodie after the preseason games is 'troubling'.
I have been one of Brodie's biggest critics the past two years and I disagree with you, I think he has been ok this preseason. I am willing to wait and see before giving up Brodie.

Treliving on 960 seemed non committal to sending Lazar to the AHL. Pretty much said we will see how it plays out.

i wonder if tkachuk is just a bit banged up and they have the flexibility to send lazar down whenever, may as well use him if necessary in games 1 and 2.

Yah this Lazar saga is getting weird. I can see no reason why you'd keep him up on the big squad.

Tre confirms they'll start with Rittich at backup

Something tells me Tree got something up his sleeve in regards to addressing Andersson's NHL spot, Lazar and maybe a D man. sounds like they're really pleased with the D depth on the Farm.

Trellising pretty much said that he didn't see an upgrade to Gillies or Rittich out there.

It's interesting that even though Prout is in the NHL, he might be 8th or 9th on the depth chart. He may be in the NHL all year and get 0 games

Whereas Treliving was worried last year about scoring -- very Delphic -- he's worried this year about consistency in the depth

Very cryptic, in the same way he came out and all but said last year that our scoring was likely to suck. Seems like he recognizes goaltending is this year’s problem child.

Giordano was awesome throughout camp. No question. But I think it has to be asked: how much of that was because he had support, especially in the defensive zone. Giordano was joining the rush like we haven't seen him do in some time. I don't think it's a coincidence that it coincides with Brodano.

One other point on this, I am more concerned with the success of the pairing than I am with how I thought either one of them played individually. If the pairing is good, you're done. Simple. Let's not try to fix what isn't broken.
That's how I see it too. The fact that Giordano looked so good says a lot about the faith that he has in Brodie.

Opening night roster looks competitive. The biggest question is obviously the goaltending, both in terms of whether Smith remains above average this season and whether he can stay healthy. Color me skeptical.

The second biggest key for me is Brodie. If he regains form I think the D can be average enough for us to get by. We need that top pairing to be elite. However, based on what I saw from Brodie in the pre-season, I’m nervous. He just isn’t a very smart hockey player.

A lot has to go right to make the playoffs. Gonna be tough.

Brodie looked fine. There was always going to be an adjustment back to a pairing and it actually went more smoothly than I expected to be honest.

If Andersson needs Brodie's spot he'll be in the AHL a lot longer than he'd like in my opinion.

I don't think they rush this, there are always injuries.

But didn't you think Andersson was junk too?

With this 23 man roster the Flames have $1,765,791 in cap space. Looks like just enough wiggle room for if an opportunity comes up before the trade deadline.

I think andersson has all the qualities necessary to be a top 4 NHL defender except for foot speed.

I imagine there'll be some shuffling around between NHL and AHL rosters for Mangiapane, Lazar and Peluso in the coming weeks.

I know someone can answer this:

What was the purpose on putting Lazar on waivers if there wasn't really an intention of sending him down to Stockton?
