Strange. Herald published interview with Lazar this morning, where he was very upbeat and really looking forward to playing in AHL.

Trade, or someone not being 100% as someone mentioned is all that makes sense to me.

The 13th forward seems odd, and I thought getting time in the AHL would be a good place to try and evaluate what we really have here.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Treliving says Andersson is ready for the NHL. Says biggest key for him is to stay ready in the AHL, because his opportunity will come.

Says it makes no sense to have Andersson sitting at the NHL level. #Flames

Lazar thing is odd. I'd say they must have just waived him when waivers were busy to sneak him through and have roster flexibility for the next month. But then there was that interview with Lazar talking about him being sent down. Yet he hasn't been sent down yet

In tree speak that means : " we will make room for Andersson when I can".

Expect Andersson Valimaki to be a full time pairing before the seasons out.

He has a one-way contract. If he's sitting in the box instead of Peluso, the Flames save over $500,000.00 without any difference to the team being iced.

Like Kulak, waivers was hoping someone would take him and they probably looked for a spot for him elsewhere. I know it's not our money, but teams do not want to pay a million dollars to players playing in the AHL unless absolutely necessary.

If Valimaki and Andersson are both ready in the eyes of the GM do we consider trading a dman for another impactful top 6F or even a future #1 goalie?

After reading that article I really feel they should send Lazar down:

Mangiapane-Lazar-Foo
Klimchuk-Quine-Phillips
Pollock-Gawdin-Robinson
Lomberg-Graovac-Rychel
Peluso/Ehliz/Fischer

Kylington-Andersson
Taormina-Healey
Valiev-Hogstrom
AOM

Gillies
Parsons

He would gain a ton of confidence playing with our top prospects as part of the go to group.

I think they’re probably looking at trading Stone but having a hard time due to salary implications. Lazar still being with the big team is a little confusing but we already know Tkachuk isn’t at 100%. Might just be precautionary

Not yet....soon, but not yet. And it will be Stone.

Andersson is ready - but do you really want a rookie pairing of Valimaki-Andersson?

I hope so. I actually like Michael Stone and wouldn't trade him anytime soon, but if Andersson emerges and makes him expendable by the end of the season then that's a great thing both on the ice and in terms of their cap situation.

I don't see the issue. The top 4 are about as solid as one could ask for. And both Valimaki and Andersson can help with Special teams.

Really if the organization has the confidence in them I see nothing wrong with it.

I don't see anything wrong with the Lazar situation, they want him as a rotational and have probably asked him to earn his spot on his limited playing time. He's a reliable NHL'er right now as a reserve guy and has the potential to do better, especially with his attitude.

Also consider that someone might have an injury or is not in game shape, so Lazar can quickly step in.

This will be an unpopular opinion but I think if Andersson makes the team it will be at the expense of Brodie, not Stone.

I think Stone might be here for the duration, or at least this season.

Brodie needs to pick up his game, and he did not look great in preseason imo. My outlook on Brodie after the preseason games is 'troubling'.

Idk what games you watched, Flash. In my eyes, the Giordano-Brodie pairing looked great.

So what are you thinking then?
Gio - Hamonic
Hanifin - andersson
Valimaki - stone?
