Not to mention once anybody suggests getting rid of it, they'll be kindly reminded how much money it generates per year and that'll take care of that.

Apologies if this is old news, but here's a map of weed store locations in Calgary... well... permits anyways:

I've looked at that a few times but I can't seem to find any information at the supposed businesses at the corresponding addresses that have been approved or released.

I'm also not sure what the difference is between "approved" and "released". Released is a darker green than approved so I'm assuming it means that it is one step further than approved but no idea what that entails.

Is it a coincidence that a lot of them that were granted licenses seem to be in close proximity to liquor stores? Does that have to do with the areas that liquor stores are permitted to operate in or other reasons?

Essentially yes.

Some other updates:
Not surprisingly Calgary Police has banned members from all use, as has Air Canada for designated positions.

Has anyone been following the crazy people in Taradale/Saddleridge trying to ban cannabis stores in their communities?

These people know it is legal everywhere else right? And that alcohol is legal in alberta?

They, of all people, (NE residents, not Sikhs), should be thrilled about legalization. It will decrease the number of grow ops and gang activity in their communities. Even though I know this has no chance of becoming a rule, they should be aware it would only give Terry more marketshare and the shadyness that comes with it.

Right? Because banning the devil's lettuce in an area populated by individuals that predominantly consumes large amounts of hard alcohol is going to save us all. Hypocrite

I would anticipate, for CPS anyhow, that it will be legally challenged. Air Canada (and whatever other airlines) have international implications to consumption. Police officers aren't banned from drinking alcohol, so to ban cannabis is unwarranted. The only thing they could think of is public perception after taking down and charging cannabis related offenses, it looks a bit hypocritical. But that's how life evolves....

Well many Cities have all ready been successful at banning pot stores.

Its stupid as they all have liquor stores available.

Quote:
Markham and Richmond Hill in Ontario, and Richmond, the city of North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Tofino, Abbotsford, Pitt Meadows and Whistler in BC, have decided not to allow pot shops in their jurisdictions. Canadians who live in areas that don’t sell pot will have to use a mail order system, similar to how medical cannabis is provided now.
Notice there is a quite a few rich areas that seem to have a problem with it. Richmond doesn't surprise me due to the high population of Asian immigrants and culture.

It will be interesting to see how regular cannabis consumers switch vs new consumers. Most regular consumers know that LP product is average at best. As a regular consumer I've tried over a dozen LPs and only 4-5 of them are quality that I would choose to regularly purchase. Most of the LP stuff is either improperly flushed, cured or stored and anybody above a novice level can tell pretty easily.

How many experienced consumers will rush to keep buying LP product after the initial novelty of buying it at store wears off? Especially since the product is prepackaged and not fresh.

What's weird is that anyone even uses "Terry" anymore. Why would you when MOM ships it to my door in a few days with way better quality and selection?

Licensed Producer is LP. And I'd heavily dispute that you get better product from the black market than an LP.

Now whether grey area MOMs have better product is another story.

Licensed Producer. The companies that currently hold the production licences for medical and who will form the supply chain for the adult use market.

Sounds like you need a better Terry.

That’s kind of the point isn’t it? MOMs are better in every conceivable way. Hard to imagine what terry could do to become my second choice again, let alone first.
