It will be interesting to see if Lazar clears waivers. He should but there seems to always be a team that will want to take a look at an ex-first round pick.

What player potentially on the opening roster do you consider a cast off!?

I do hope Lazar clears. As much as I didn't want him on the opening night roster I think some time in the AHL would do wonders for him.

A whole game? All it takes is one lackluster powerplay before some people are done with the coaching staff

I was a little surprised to see Kulak waived not going to lie.

I'm not. Remember, Treliving waived him back in August just so he'd clear to prove to the arbitration that he's not worth much.
That said, now that he's signed to a cheap deal and claiming him won't impact an arbitration case, I wouldn't be shocked to see a team weak on dmen claim him. While we might have better options now he's still a decent 6/7 guy

I feel like his arbitration might have soured management against him. Hasn’t been reported anywhere or anything like that but I cant see BT being thrilled with Kulak asking for over a million.

Stone is a decent 5 D, I would keep him for now. Maybe trade him during the trade deadline. Andersson and Valimaki could play on the 3rd D line after that.

He might make sense in Edmonton. Wouldn’t wish that on him, but that’s a roster he could probably upgrade and slide up and down the forward lines a little.

I have zero issues with Stone, he's not flashy but he's solid enough. If both Valimaki and Andersson prove they're definitely a better option then waive Prout and rotate Stone in and out of the lineup, but don't just toss Stone away now. Keep injuries in mind too, even if Stone is the press box guy, if someone goes down I'd rather dress him than call Kulak back up

well, decent, but i don't know if he was substantially better than Kulak? especially for the price.
don't really care either way, but have been disappointed in Stone as a result of his contract value

Wonder if they’re going to switch Stone from left to right throughout the season.

I totally agree. He's not worth $3,500,000.

I agree with this, but until the money is blocking something I have no issue with it. Engelland was waaaayyy overpaid too but I wish we still had him.
I get that he isn't a sexy player but he's a solid bottom pairing guy. I'm not saying you hold on to him no matter what but I just don't see the need to get rid of him. He's not blocking anyone's progression, and he's not tying up cap space we need elsewhere.

I'd rather have an overpaid Engelland than an overpaid Stone, but ya I get your point and I agree with it.

Always need a whipping boy. If anything that makes me happy, a lot of our whipping boys over the last few years definitely deserved it. If Stone is truly our weakest link that's a damn solid team

I can see the Oilers claiming Lazar.
