Sometimes achilles injuries are career ending.
But it's the Oilers, so no doubt their crack medical staff under the capable oversight of Dr. Nick Riviera will have Sekera cleared for games as soon as he can get his feet into his skates sometime before Christmas.

Its not like they can simply say he's out for the season. The NHL stays on top of these injuries because of their effect on the cap.

If he's cleared by doctors in March the Oilers have to get under the cap.

What the hell do they have to trade to bring in help? The organization is remarkably asset poor. They have two prospects in Bouchard and Yamamato and a bunch of over-rated other guys such as Bear.
They have no forward or D depth.
So what the hell are they going to trade to make this happen? I guess a pick.
idiots.

I think the shine on yamamoto is probably coming off as he has left people wanting more.

Do it, Brad.

I think their picks for the next few years are going to be extremely valuable!

I still expect Justin Faulk to be an Oiler at some point. He'd be a guy for them to target, although I think he does have a NMC.

There's not a single regular roster player on that list that was drafted by Edmonton outside of the first round.

Truly pathetic drafting and development.

EDIT: Jujhar "Binks" Khaira (3rd rounder) can be considered, but can't say he's a full-time regular...

I just noticed they drafted Rod Brind`amour's son too? is there a Nepotism banner they're chasing or is it just natural instinct. They had like 3 or 4 knockoff brothers of decent NHLers on their rookie squad too

When in doubt, draft names you recognize and cross your fingers.

From 31 thoughts this week on Mcdavid's short term athletic goals...

McDavid also got serious about golf for the first time in his life. How do you shoot? “Around 90. You’ve got to break 90 and go from there.”

I for one hope Connor gets plenty of time to work on his golf game over the next fifteen years or so.

15?

If the Karlsson trade shows anything, it’s how much a players value craters when he’s in the last year of his deal. Let’s cut that 15 in 1/2 to say... 7.5 years.

Now if the Oilers weren’t the Oilers, this wouldn’t be the ultimate result, but... they are. McDavid either gets fed up with their dog & pony show in 5 years or he guts it out like Tavares & finds somewhere beyond ineptitude to ply his trade.

I would bet on the latter, & the Oilers end up with nothing.

How is that an example of nepotism?

If they draft Brind’Amour’s son, they can lay claim to the 2006 Stanley Cup by association and raise another banner.
