There’s something weird about the lighting at SAP center for sure, I was there for the VGK series this year and all my pics and videos from my phone looked dark with a weird yellow green tint just like on TV. It looked completely normal in person though. Bizarre.

Holy God Dorion

My thoughts

This makes the Sharks so much better, they were still gonna be a contender before this even with that aging team. However now they have 2 possession monsters in Burns and Karlsson. I question how 2 RH players will fit and who will actually defend. He is so good but the fit doesnt make as much sense there as it should so we will see what happens.

After this trade, Ottawa's top-7 defencemen carry a total cap hit under $10 million. I'd guess that most teams' top pairing alone makes more than that.

Brent Burns is getting paid more this season than the Senators' entire NHL d-core.

Come on Tre, get working on a Michael Stone for Brady Tkachuk deal.

I am sure they will have no problem splitting the duties and using their top 2 pairs as a 1a and 1b scenario. SJ will fit EK into their line up just fine. He can do everything. The flames have struggled to beat the sharks in the past decade on a regular basis, this won't help. Having 3 all-star defensemen isn't a problem.

Usually I like to find a good reasoning to defend teams that make bad trades, but this is awful. I guess they become a team that can collect other teams salary dumps and potentially pick up prospects and picks in the process for a rebuild. That's the best I can say about this one.

I figured once Dallas extended Seguin that they were likely not looking at picking up Karlsson.

Have they? The site I checked had it fairly even the last 10 years, 19-19-2-3 for the Flames.

I know its semantics and nitpicking but that is a sub.500 record. Close but theres more losses then wins. Not 'even'.

Ok, I'll go away now.

That is fairly even I guess, like the other poster said, it isn't above .500. After this trade, I doubt it gets better.

Yeah, not a great record but not really "struggling" either. I think they can improve over last year's record though, which I think was just one loser point.

Canadian teams have had gobs of money (compared to the average) for the last forever years, how the hell can these teams be so badly mismanaged?
It's really pathetic, the Canadian teams should have the best GM's, best scouting, best back room trainers, etc. It's like they aren't even trying because the money truck shows up every month and dumps it's load.

Considering the Sharks have been better for almost all of those years, that's a pretty good record.

I think Plan A for the rest of the Pacific now is to hope Wilson fires his coach and hires Gulutzan away from Edmonton to run the show.

Here are the conditions per the Sens:
I looked to see if His question was already asked, didn’t see it.
I wonder if the Senators get the first if he signs as a UFA with an Eastern team? I’m sure the Sharks didn’t do this to not sign him, but that clause would put some additional pressure to ensure he signs.

No, as that is not during “this season”.
