How does TMZ get footage like that? From a police body cam... Doesn't seem like something the police would just hand over to them but I could be wrong

I think the cop could have talked to him a bit longer and maybe tried to move him away from the door before arresting him. He wasn't violent or belligerent. I think they jumped the gun a bit. Oh well, it could have been worse! I have seen these situations handled very poorly by police and vice versa.
The video is funny, but pretty tame. And ya, how does TMZ get a hold of this kind of thing? Do the police stations get money for this kind of thing from TMZ?

I think the Cop did his job pretty well all things considered.
Panik was drunk and kind of disorderly, but the manager wanted him gone and called the cops, thats all the cop can really do.
He asked him to leave politely, Panik refused, dont know why, so the cop removed him.
He was polite and civil and handled it quite well for all the crap we hear about US cops.

It wasnt that bad at all. But leaving these kinds of guys in the bar is what escalates things. You arent supposed to serve people who are clearly drunk.
The Cop was polite and professional and just did his duty. He gave Panik the opportunity to leave of his own accord making the fact that whatever Panik did he had to leave. One way or another.
Panik wasnt nearly as drunk or belligerent as some people I've seen, but he was still a toxic influence on the bar and had to be removed.
Honestly, I think its much ado about nothing. Panik was nothing if not polite, but he was drunk and the Cop was nothing if not both polite and professional.
Thats a textbook 'get this drunk out of the bar' scenario. So kudos to both of them.
One of them has to drink away the fact that hes an Arizona Coyote and the other was just doing his job and he did it well.

Apparently freedom of information here in the US means the police will just give out videos of anything to media outlets.
That's also why you see celebrity mug shots getting published.
I've actually had this conversation with a coworker here. What does the publication of videos like this do other than to embarrass the individual being arrested? Why do we, as the public, need to see this?

In the United States, body cam footage in many states can be released to the public as it's considered a public record. This is also why 911 calls make it to the media, they're public record.

Because taxpayers pay the police to do their job. Transparency is one of the tools that keeps people accountable. We should always remember this.
