They want to complete a trade for a goalie so they can introduce everyone at the same time...

It's been nice to hear both sides saying it's close and will get done... But if we get into next week (week before camp opens) is it time to get a little worried?

They may want to announce signing in person. He hasn’t come to calgary yet this summer, and at this stage if he’s coming to calgary to sign, he might as well bring his belongings for the year vs flying back. Just a theory, but I would rather hold off on formalities and just make one trip.

I think for a player to go public with this, it is probably pretty much a done deal. Term and dollars are agreed to, just going over things like signing bonus amounts. Would not surprise me if it is announced by the end of the week or the day before the golf tournament.

If it's done, I wonder if a presser would hold up the announcement. All the other players they haven't rolled out yet are all signed.

The other that his value was an important part of sealing it. I tend to think that the second view is more accurate than the first, but that Fox's trade value has also been grossly exaggerated by a number of Flames fans. He is a promising prospect with flaws in his game that has yet to play a game in the NHL, and is at best a year away from making his NHL debut. These sorts of players are not worth much—I think that circumstances and his relative value made it an easy decision for Treliving to include him in the deal, but also that his potential was enough to entice Carolina to consummate the trade.
Jesus, for all the bickering back and forth on what Fox meant in that trade and my personal attempts to sum it up as I was huge detractor of believing we'd ever see Fox in a Flames jersey....this post summed it up better than anyone has or could have. Spot on.

I am driving home from Edmonton tomorrow afternoon so if this news could break around 2-3 pm that would be great.

Nothing better. I was driving from Vancouver to Calgs the day the Hanifin trade broke. Made for a much easier drive.

Completely off topic, but on long drives I highly, highly recommend audiobooks. It makes the drive go by so fast!

Audible is an awesome investment. You get a free credit for any book when you sign up too. They're fully downloaded when you buy them so no internet/streaming required. Simply great.

Sorry have to add to this. I was doing a 200K bike ride for MS when the trade broke. It was pouring rain. And holy smokes I didn’t notice how bad cause I turned on fan960 and listened on my headphones all the way.
