The sportsforecaster has the Flames finishing 7th in the pacific, above only the Canucks !?! Pretty much everything would have to go wrong for that to happen.
Out of curiosity, what do you guys think is the best/most accurate yearbook/fantasy guide?

Saw that too. Only Vancouver below us. Arizona ahead. Considering the upgrades in offseason really hard to rationalize such a prediction.
Only explanation given was Peters will be more of the same.

Given the Forecaster's track record at predicting hockey this is fantastic news for us. As for accuracy the answer is none of them.

The guides that picked Vegas to be SC finalists last season.

Sounds like a case of something that someone badly wants to happen over what an objective person would view as possible.

Goaltending, that's why not. I love all the moves made so far, I just hate the lack of one more move that IMO needs to be made.

The only way the Flames really suck this season without major injuries is if Smith is horrible or Bill Peters is another coaching failure.

Both of which are easily within the realm of possibility.

I don't agree. Certainly both of these are possible outcomes, but I think it is an exaggeration to say they are easily so—as if they each have a better-than average chance of happening.
Mike Smith's SP of .916 was virtually identical to his career SP of .913, and his SP over the past five years, which is also .913. If he is just as good this season as last season the Flames will be demonstrably better on the basis of their significant scoring upgrades, and it does not seem at all unlikely that he will reproduce career average numbers.

Fleury is still going strong at 33, no reason not to think Smith can have another very good season, barring any major injury.

Yes that's correct indeed. Not sure why I thought otherwise
