Rychel - 154 points in 232 AHL games = NHLe of 25.5
Shinkaruk - 149 points in 251 AHL games = NHLe of 22.8
This aligns pretty well with Rychel's NHL production, which is 28 points/82 games. He seems like a good 4th liner. These could be the lines come game 1.
If the Flames somehow acquired 7 1sts prior to that draft and that summer we got to talk about Lindholm, Lazar, Rychel, and Shinkaruk on top of Monahan, Poirier, and Klimchuk we would be over the moon excited.
There was significant hype around the 4 year players we have acquired since that draft.
People would be penciling in future lineups of
Shinkaruk-Monahan-Rychel
Poirier-Lindholm-Lazar
As we sit here today Monahan is by far the best player of that group and followed by Lindholm. Other than that maybe Klimchuk has a shot to make it t the NHL. Lazar appears to be on the verge of falling out of the league. Poirier is a free agent and Shinkaruk/Rychel have been with multiple organizations (3 Shinkaruk, 4 for Rychel) and neither has yet to crack a roster for more than a cup of coffee.
Time
I remember the 2013 draft being hyped as the next big 2003 draft with so many can't miss prospects in round 1. But you're right. If Jay Feaster would have told us ''worry not Flames fans, 5 years from now when the team comes out of the rebuild you'll have 7 of the 2013 1st rounders on the roster!". I would have cried tears of joy at the time.
Still pretty crazy to have 7 of them all on the roster.

Doesn't matter though - there are so many ways to draft up the lines this year, it's just insane. Basically, you can put 4 LWs in a bin, 4 Cs in a bin, and the 4 RWs in a third bin and just draw the lines randomly, and it would probably be fine.
this is like when that guy started with a paper clip and kept trading it until it turned into a house. in a couple of seasons we are going to end up with McDavid or MacKinnon from the Granlund pick.
Except Granlund is at this stage the best of the lot.

To me, Jankowski is one of the most interesting players this year. He had 25 points in 72 games as a 23 year old. Generally, my understanding is forwards are mostly done developing at 23 years old. So, with most forwards, I would feel pretty confident Jankowski should be slotted in as the 4th centre behind Ryan.
However, Jankowski was also a rookie last year and has been a slow developer. So I think you might be right to slot him in as the 3rd centre. If he is going to turn into anything beyond a bottom 6 centre, we will probably know this coming season because Jankowski will be 24 years old. Therefore, it is important to give him a good chance.
Rychel is better suited for a bottom 6 role than Shinkaruk and brings an element of grit and physicality that Hunter didn't.
More likely Rychel plays games for the Flames this season than Shinkaruk.
I see it as a bit of an insurance policy in case guys like Mangiapane/Foo/Dube don't show well at camp and need more time to develop in the minors. Not a guy you worry about losing on waivers but also not a guy who will hurt you in a 4th line role.

Only by virtue of getting a bunch of time on a terrible Canucks team. He's in the same boat as Shinkaruk, not skilled enough for a decent team's top 9, and way too soft to be a 4th liner. I don't miss him at all and expect he will be out of the league quickly once that team starts to improve.

2013 had all the hype, but 2014 is sneakily proving to be very deep in that first round. Just look at the sheer amount of names in there that have turned out to be NHL regulars later in the round.

I wasn't ranking them 3rd and 4th lines, as I don't think it's that cut and dried. I just had to list them in some order.
