That was a great display of refereeing and VAR. The referee knew that VAR had his back if he missed something blatant, rather than the other way around. Way less messy and controversial.

I thought Belgium was full marks...Brazil may have a stats advantage but to me that is because they were trailing almost the entire game

Well I think that Kompany tackle was a penalty for sure, so Belgium had a little luck on their side.
And did I hear correctly that Martinez said he has never lost a tactical battle? That’s some elite trolling!

Congrats to Belgium, very hard game to lose. Felt Brasil was too scared of getting scored on and should’ve had a more attacking lineup from the beggining. Good luck to the rest of the teams in the tournament

Belgium vs. France is going to be insane! The French vs. The Flemish for the Ultimate Decision of who invented les frites!
The Belgians claim it was them and are incensed at the term 'French' Fries, the French insist the Belgians are just being babies about the whole thing and they already have the Waffles so it seems only fair to let the French have this one.

I think he said he never lost a game on the tactical board. He was trying to compliment the players execution but it came out a little wrong.

I'm worried now that Russia has got a sniff of the knockout round, they will employ some type of shenanigans to keep them there. The surge in nationalism will benefit Putin and he'd hate to lose that.
Anyone else think this? Please tell me I'm overreacting due to my bias today.
