Didn't Calgary have a right to pick one of three prospects from Colorado as part of the Fleury trade? (They eventually took Regehr).

Not exactly what is being proposed, but it does show some ability for teams to structure deals creatively.

Yeah but the Flames had a choice. Colorado didn't get to say who the Flames received in that scenario. I don't believe they can do that.

They’re still going to lose to us in 7 games.

I actually had something idiotic like Dallas give honka of it's a 1 year rental or get heiskanen if he resigned.

We’re actually gonna sweep them but will insist on playing all 7 just so we can destroy them again and again and have the first ever 7 game sweep in the Stanley cup playoffs.

suggestions that the Devils may be involved as the 3rd team, possible even taking Bobby Ryan

https://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/...k_karlsso.html

edit. the part about Bobby Ryan seems far fetched, as it doesn't help Tampa with their cap

No, but it would dramatically reduce the price TB would need to pay for Karlsson. I don't buy it, but rather because I think Ottawa needs to maximize Karlsson's value, and they can't do so with Bobby Ryan attached.

They have lost every other trade, why start now?

Will this be a sign and trade? Have we ever had one since the cap has come in?

I haven't been following the story. have a few people actually backtracked and maybe admitted they really don't know the whole story and skewered Hoffman too quickly?

Don't see why Karlsson would agree to that. He has absolutely nothing to gain by signing in Ottawa first.

Can't he sign for an extra year with his current team? That would allow him to lock in some additional income assuming this will be the best contract he ever gets and/or give the acquiring team a little more flexibility by tweaking the cap hit by lowering the cap hit a bit because of the extra year.

Stuff like that could be beneficial to both the player and the acquiring team, no?
