Well Hamilton was not at locker clean out and media availability so it is pretty much a fact.

I'm pretty sure that a guy like Mike Smith would have told Tre in the exit interview exactly what he thought of the season, how it went, and who had compete and who didn't.
Seeing as they have a long-standing relationship, his comments of "I listen to what the players have to say" indicates that Smith and probably a few others had said some things that bothered management...

Reason I bring up Burns is he was similarly traded prematurely and is now a top three d-man in the league. The Wild traded Burns for dubious reasons and didn't maximize his return.
Hanifin's transition game is his biggest strength.

I thought he was at garbage day(same day as when he had his yearly exit interviews with BT, which I thought I heard he was there for that). However, he skipped out on speaking to the media only. I could be wrong, but I for some reason thought I had heard that.

I could be mistaken. Maybe one of the media members on site here can confirm if he was indeed there that day?

According to Friedman this was all about role:

Quote:
2. I really don’t like taking shots at players who get traded. You’re gone, move on, let’s go. Dougie Hamilton was hit with personal criticism when dealt from Boston to Calgary, and now while en route to Carolina. Hamilton politely declined a request to address all this, not wanting to toss more gasoline on the fire.

The move out of Massachusetts definitely was a personality clash, with differing opinions on who was right and who was wrong. After making a few calls, this is not about who’s attending team slumber parties. This is about role. Hamilton did not formally request a trade, but there is confirmation there were discussions about his spot in the lineup. There was agreement a move would be better for both sides.

The Flames wanted to re-unite TJ Brodie and Mark Giordano, which will happen. They felt Travis Hamonic would benefit from playing with a steadier partner, as opposed to Brodie, more of a jazz-musician freelancer. That would take Hamilton off the top pair, which didn’t thrill him. He also didn’t start last season on the top power play, eventually replacing Brodie midway through. That was another bone of contention. This was necessary for both player and team. Hamilton will benefit from Carolina: he hears everything. Less noise there.

Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm were unhappy, too. Their contract talks were difficult, with Lindholm’s last conversation ending in a blowup the day before he was traded. A lot of players eager to prove something.

So the Flames wanted to separate the statistically best defence pair and Dougie wasn't a fan?

And Dougie has every right to be upset about not being on PP1 last season. He made the coaches look absolutely foolish when he was given that opportunity.

This is kind of embarrassing.

For Dougie.

He's paid to play, not to coach. If he had problems with the line up he should act like a professional about it.

Is there any indication that he didn't act like a professional about it?

This confirms Dougie was a complete professional.

He was unhappy about his role. He expressed his feelings to the team brass directly - not through the media, not through stumping from his agent. When given the #1 unit PP role he performed very well, proving himself to be right.

I have no problem with a player who is unhappy in their role talking to the team about it.

I also like it when guys produce when given the opportunity they asked for.

Furthermore, all of this drama is leaking from one side of the equation. Dougie spoke politely about the City and the team and has declined other interviews. The whispers and gossip is coming from the Flames and the Flames media.

This is not on Dougie.

How? Literally point it out.

Dougie challenged his role on the team. Management disagreed. Management decided to move on.

What is unprofessional by Dougie here? Friedman literally says it's nothing else.

What is potentially unprofessional is a "blowup" by Lindholm, but nothing unprofessional by Dougie here.

lol so how is that embarrassing by the Flames then? You're the one that made the ridiculous claim bashing the team.

Because if that was really what his problem was, he was right.

just sounds like a situation where it was best for both sides to move on. No reason to throw dirt at Hamilton, it was petty from Boston and it's petty now. Just turn the page and move on.

Pointing out to your superiors your poor utilization isn't acting like a poor professional in any career setting.

Maybe in the NHL it is though, but that reflects poorly on the NHL, not on Hamilton.

And clearly the team agreed. They fired the coach and all his assistants.

It's just another pathetic attempt to try and bash the team.

Or from other players inside the locker room.

We say the common denominator of brodies struggles were changing sides or gully. Perhaps the arrival of Hamilton also has something to do with is. If Hamilton is gunning for brodies job on the top pairing and on PP-1 the day he arrives and isn't quiet about it in the dressing room, it's a ####ty place to show up for work everyday.
