If a top-4 defenseman is traded, its a big tell of what our management believes the quality of Andersson and Valimaki are and how close they are to stepping up.
We need a winger with a good RH-shot or a #1 centerman.

Its more an indictment that Backlund is a quality number #3 center we need on a cup-winning team. He's not quite as good as Malkin, Backstrom, Sharp (in his prime), or any other #2 center on a cup-winning team. And lets be fair - none of the guys I listed are #2 centers. You need two #1 centers to win a cup.
