What about Brodie+Ferland+Kylington for Panarin, with an extension agreed upon beforehand... fills the Jackets need for LD, and Ferland softens the blow of losing Panarins scoring, Kylington included to increase the value of the proposal.

Don't want to risk the assets on a pending UFA. If we want to go that route, you can get Simmonds for cheaper. That, or go for Stone who would be an RFA.

I would think Brodie-Ferlund or Backlund by himself would be more than enough for Panarin-Dubinsky, if Dubinsky has negative value due to clashes with Torts and Pararin is not signable by the Jackets.

I'm a huge fan of Simmonds as a player, but hes an 'offence only' 50-60 point perennial minus winger.

Panarin is an 80+ point +23.

Could you imagine this team with 2 80+ point wingers?

Panarin holds way more value than Simmonds.

If that's all it would take then Flames would do that deal with no hesitation. I think it would cost more though.

Struggling young 3rd line winger plus young defensive prospect with zero NHL games for proven 70+ point top 6 forward. Do it!!

If Panarin isn't willing to talk contract extension with Columbis yet it is because he knows he will get paid HUGE as a free agent next summer. If you trade for him you are basically paying for a rental unless you back up the brinks truck and pray he likes your city.

I was listening to last week's episode of 31 Thoughts - The Podcast and they were discussing the draft. Jeff Marek mentioned that there is at least one team he is aware of that is strict about not drafting Russians. Any idea or other speculation of which team he could be referring to?

Ducks maybe? Drafted 1 Russian since 2001. No Russians on their NHL roster or AHL roster.

edit: The 1 Russian they did take was in 2009, the year Bob Murray took over as GM.

Panarin would be an amazing add and has a bit of versatility as he can play both wings. He also has that right-shot one-timer that would make our powerplay so much better.

The Flames finished runner-up to the Blackhawks in the Panarin sweepstakes so, unless his opinion has changed, we know he isn't opposed to playing in this market either.

But the price to get him would be so high it would take an enormous deal between the two teams. The Blue Jackets are in desperate need of a #1 or #2 centre so I'm not sure the Flames even have what they're looking for unless they rate Bennett highly enough, with the Flames adding. They could use another left defenceman also depending on their plans with Nutivaara. A lot would come down to whether the Flames are going for a one year shot or are interested in acquiring him for the longer term. If longer, with Tkachuk getting a massive raise, the Flames may need to move some salary back also.

Columbus isn't looking to go into a rebuild if they move him. You can bet that they're asking for a core team member and not a bunch of parts.

Lol at Bennett being the main piece in a reasonable Flames trade. Try Tkachuk, and that might not even get it done.

I'd deal Tkachuk for Panarin assuming Panarin can sign an extension. That wouldn't even be fair to CBJ, but I'd do it.
