I was leaning towards blue too, and I'm glad there's some consensus here. And good point about the lighter bikes getting easily dirty.

KTrain - you could always use a layer of gorilla tape on that section, swap it out when it becomes soiled.

In the past I have used the soft side of Velcro on the chain stays of my bikes also

^ i am not much of a skinny tire guy, but i'd don full spndex and throw a leg over this beast. love the line of the seat stay right above the brake.

complete aside, just read a story posted on facebook that outlines how someone who lives near the diner deluxe off of edmonton trail crashed her bike as she was riding the downhill portion of edmonton trail because her bike was outside and someone stole her brakes. Seems like a hard story to swallow, especially after last years tale about the barb wire at bragg creek. even moreso given she would had to have ridden her bike a few blocks in traffic without stopping to get to the downhill portion.

i too thought the story was questionable, given is was a "friend of a friend". the more i think about it, it makes me think that whenever i get on my bike the first thing i do is grab my brakes.

additionally, why not just cut the cables as that would take a lot less time than removing the brakes.

Hey guy. I have borrowed my dads Specialized Roubaix comp (I think?) for a race i am doing this upcoming weekend. Anyway, one of the tires is flat and I need to get it fixed. I don’t reallt care to learn how to do it myself at this time. Just want it done right and quickly.

So my question is: since I live in Sunnyside should I take it to Ridley cycle? Are they a good store? Or should I drive to bowcycle as the bike was bought there? Thanks!

Ridley's is a good shop and should be able to get you set up.

Maybe bookmark a YouTube video for changing a tube in case you need it on your race. It's not too difficult to do.

Just a half triathlon in red deer. Im more resigned to the fact if I get a flat my race is over haha. But I may take a look and if I have time this week I may try and learn.

Weitz, I'm the worst bike mechanic in the world. Changing a tire is something that even I can do. Give it a shot, you'll do well I am sure. The guys at the shop can totally walk you through it as well.

Are there any store in town that rent bike shoes? My dads bike has clip in pedals and the shoes are just slightly too small for me. I can make them work day of but I would rent a proper fitting pair if I could..

With that caliber of bike you can just call Specialized. They'll come to your house and fix it for you. They don't want other bike mechanics working on a unique tire and wheel combination that only they can provide. The risk of someone wrecking the entire bike by trying to change a flat is just not worth it. You can also send it back to the Specialized factory for them to do the repair there. They have better equipment than the mobile unit, but they likely won't have it back in time for your race. Good luck.

I've had my cyclocross bike in storage for a couple of years now and it now needs a tune-up. Would any of you recommend MEC or The Bike Shop? Looking for a central shop if possible.

Regardless of the type or caliber of bike, you should be able to change a flat on your bike. Flats happen and you shouldn't have to kill a ride because you got one. Fix and go. I avoided learning how to for a while because I thought it would be difficult. It takes unfortunate practice to do it quickly but even after the first one it gets much easier.

Ridley's is Specialized dealer so they're more than capable of fixing a flat on a Roubaix. I've never heard of Specialized, or any bike manufacturer, sending someone to fix a flat and sending your bike away for a flat seems like overkill.
