Really outside the Gilmour trade there hasn’t been a time I can remember the Leafs fleeced the flames. Sure seemed like it with Phaneuf and Darryl should have gotten more but that trade did not work out for Toronto either so outside the initial reaction it was a trade that did not really help either team.
I doubt Toronto would trade Kadri but I would be interested in a Brodie for Kadri deal. Similar age. If Toronto is tired of the suspensions and feel they can shift Nylander or Marleau to centre perhaps they consider it?
I still would prefer Hamilton for Marner if we could make a blockbuster with the Leafs.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Marner was the only kid that showed up for the Leafs in the playoffs and is probably the safest bet to stay put between he and Nylander.

To be fair, I'm not going in the corners against monster Chara with a smile on my face as a 21 year old, 190 lbs kid.

I would be game for Kapanen from Toronto.
Certainly wouldn't carry the same price tag as Nylander or Marner, and fits the "Big, Fast, Skilled" profile.

Marner isn't going anywhere. I'd put him in untouchable territory.
Nylander could be had, IMO, and the game 7 gaffs by Gardiner likely puts some pressure on upper management to shore up the back end.
It's a good time to have D to trade. I think the Leafs and Flames line up quite nicely as trade partners.

We should trade Gaudreau then. He's also the kind of two-ply soft player who would refuse to go into corners against players substantially bigger than him.

I think any of the big 3 will be tough to get unless you are putting Hamilton on the table. Nylander/Marner/Matthews is the core they are building around.
So I think you are looking at more like a guy like Kapanen or Connor Brown and maybe you get a pick back as well for Brodie.

I like the Hyman kid, too. Big motor, right handed shot, extremely hard worker.

Kadri would be the only guy the Flames should consider, 27 years old at 4.5 a year. He would carry a very steep price though.
He is exactly what the Flames need, and I have seen him erase Connor McDavid a couple of times.

That would be like trading for Burrows or Cooke. Regardless of fit there is no situation where I can see myself being happy about it.

Why would the leafs want Dougie?
Someone please answer that for me.
They have Morgan Reilly already.
If they were hot to trot for Hamonic, why on earth would they think Hamilton is going to solve their problems?
They need actual defense, not a guy who scores a bunch from the defensive position.
If Toronto is going to be interested in any Flames it's going to be Hamonic or Gio, not for a facsimile of what they already have in Gardiner and Reilly (Brodie and Hamilton).
Their top 3 is Reilly, Zaitsev and Gardiner. Is that a group that desperately needs a Dougie Hamilton? How does adding Hamilton help them at all, especially at the expense of an ELC forward scoring 50+ points?
Is any Flames fan clamouring for another Brodie at this point after missing the playoffs, or are many fans here trying to find a way to trade him because he's fallen out of favour due to being unreliable defensively?
Seriously, someone explain it to me without mentioning Hamilton's height.

Dougie would be by far their best defenceman is why they would want Dougie.

And yet wouldn't be any further along. So again why do they want Hamilton?
