All you people picking WAS - would you put real $ on that? I don't think so.

Already have. Pens looked really average against a terrible philly team. Wash is much better than philly.

As much as I was pulling for Philly, it should be mentioned that the Pens are seasoned playoff veterans. They know how to win the early rounds in low gear and only kick it up when they have to.

Not their first rodeo.

Caps overcame the adversity of a 0-2 hole going on the road and didn't look back. Usually the first adversity in playoffs is where they falter, so just maybe they have enough confidence to give the pens a run.

The Pens' defense is atrocious. Murray does not look the same. The only thing they are good at is capitalizing on the opposing teams' mistakes, so Washington really has to play mistake-free hockey.

I'm not betting because the time I do bet on the Pens, the Caps will magically win.

WAS had all they could handle from CBJ.

Crosby and Malkin are the two best players in the world.

Ugh this playoff matchup is so overdone now. Please punt the penguins onto the golf course Ovi!

I would say Pittsburgh looked pretty awful at times against a marginal Philly team. If not for lousy goaltending it would have been a much different series imo.

For me, I would be surprised if the Capitals don't finally take this one.

I wouldn't mind a Pens three-peat, but I'm dying to see OV win a cup. At the very least he deserves a long cup run. I know the Pens have the Caps number in the playoffs, but you'd have to think that maybe one day it will turn around....or maybe not. Maybe they are cursed like the Flames are with the Ducks and it's wishful thinking.

Either way, I'm hoping for a long series and the Caps to finally take the next step and win this one.

Why do so many think Ovi "deserves" a Cup? You earn it.

All they could handle in winning 4 straight, including 3 in CBJ, after losing the first 2 in OT after blowing late leads?

I would say CBJ held on as long as they possibly could before the inevitable.

Because a lot of people love Ovechkin and want to see him succeed. What is weird about that?

Then he should play a more complete game!

Trotz thinks he can:

"He's a big, strong guy and he's scored a lot of goals," Capitals coach Barry Trotz said. "He's evolved in areas of his game. He's not just at that [face-off] dot. He will go the front of the net. He's not scared to do that. So [he's] just adding layers to his game."

The new layer that Trotz was most interested in discussing Monday was Ovechkin's commitment defensively, as evidenced by the two shots he blocked.

So according to you, one Ovechkin needs to do the job of a Crosby and a Malkin.

Washington really didn't deal with all they could handle. The numbers don't paint a rosy picture for Bobrovsky but he was absolutely stellar. The Caps didn't receive any critical saves early on and once they made a goaltending change, it was essentially a sweep.

You will get to see the complete Ovi game in this series ...

He was scoring goals from the dirty areas as well as his office.
He was putting himself in front of point blank slapshots to make sure it didn't get through.
He was literally the fastest guy on the ice back checking on many plays

Yes you need to earn a cup but you can't do it all on your own. I can name hundreds of guys with a cup ring who did 1/100th of what Ovechkin has done for his team. It is always a shame when one of the greats retires without a cup. Adam Oates, Mats Sundin, Jarome Iginla.

This isn't about Sid vs Ovi. It's about Sid being arguably the greatest player ever and he has been rewarded for it with clutch performances from he and his teammates. Ovi being one of the greatest goal scorers of all time and has yet to be rewarded for it. There is nothing wrong with a large population believeing he deserves to be rewarded just as many of us felt Iginla deserved a cup.
