I don't think so. Colorado played a hell of a series, and then their goalie played out of his mind to steal them a game.
One thing for sure is that this series should have Nashville ready for the next one. I'm not sure I can say the same thing for a few other teams.

Those two series in the west will be great battles.

When was the last time every higher seed won in the first round?
Sharks were lower seeded than Ducks but were only 1 point back.
I like upsets but seeing the best 8 teams advance, all with 100+ points and 4 teams with 110+ points should make for some stellar matchups.
Assuming Caps beat Blue Jackets and Bruins beat Leafs.

Was just going to say that, there's always upsets but not likely this year.
Hasn't made for the most exciting first round, but the second round is shaping up to be epic.

That’s a goal. Contact had no effect on Rinne. Not until after it was in.

Was going to post the same. I have been watching this game for a long time and I cannot remember a year where 7 favourites and a coin toss made it to round two.
As chummer said, round two should be epic. I am really looking forward to NAS/WPG. SJS/VGK should be great too. And then there's TBL/BOS - two fantastic teams with very different games.
I am hoping WAS moves on, just to get another PIT/WAS battle.
Usually my interest starts to wane in the 2nd round because things become predictable. But this is going to be awesome.

I don't think I would pencil in the Bruins for the 2nd round yet.

Even CBJ/PIT would be awesome. I would bet the Blue Jackets still suffer nightmares from their last two first-round appearances.

You think the Leafs can beat them 3 games in a row? Two of which are in Boston?
I do not see that happening.

Hahaha! No chance.
The Leafs had a three goal lead in Boston in the third period and barely survived that game. They certainly will not win another there.

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier added another chapter to the book on hockey player toughness, scoring three goals and assisting on two others -- while playing on a torn MCL.
Couturier injured his right knee in a practice collision with a teammate Tuesday and missed Game 4 of the series. But with his team down 3-1 in the series, he returned and scored the game winner in Game 5 on Friday, before his encore performance in Game 6 Sunday was overshadowed by a four-goal outburst from Pittsburgh's Jake Guentzel.

Nice to see the fans give their team a cheer despite the score.
And as I type that the PBP guy says the same and calls it classy, meanwhile a Subban sucks chant gets going.

I think this is the most boring first round of the playoffs that I've seen in a long time. So many routs, 2 sweeps, and no upsets (depending on if Columbus can come back, which doesn't look likely). Really hoping the 2nd round has some more competitive hockey

I found the hockey to be quite entertaining. Even the Vegas sweep was great hockey.

If it goes 7, anything can happen. Look at how Andersen is playing.

IDK the series score was 7-3
I think people were more excited by the novelty of it than the actual games

Philly/Pittsburgh was 28-15 and the games were much less exciting than LA/Vegas
Fast, back and forth hockey > goals

Individual games have been very good but I see where you’re coming from and I agree. The competitiveness of most series is lacking. Stinker of a first round.
