Yup, thank goodness I'm still rolling studs. Slow and steady this morning, glasses icing/fogging up with that easterly breeze. Didn't lean into a single turn.

I crashed on a corner at the bottom of my own street and then again by the high school in Crescent Heights.

That sucks. I was being extremely cautious and I'm still kind of amazed I didn't go down.

I almost bailed twice but saved it and had to go on the grass a couple times which is also frozen over. Not sure if this afternoon will be much better if it's only getting to +1.

Even with studs, I wiped out slowly turning a corner when transitioning from street to sidewalk. I guess in hindsight, I could've avoided that sidewalk. Oh well, only a rear fender and my pride was lost.

Dammit. I need to go check the ice. This may break my year and a half streak...because of ice in April! grrrr.

Well...it will either be fine or not fine...I think the snow on top has made it sticky enough, though I am sure there are going to be slick spots.

I felt it was pretty sticky this morning, you could see the odd rutted section under the snow on pathways. Still very glad I've got the studs.

I stayed on the main roads and was all good today. Should be a big melt this afternoon.

Looking forward to a nice tailwind for my last ride out of downtown for awhile. New commute Monday to the North East!

I was worried, because last night was super slick. But it weasn't to bad. A few sketchy sections, and took it real slow. Looking forward to doing it again Monday... sigh.

My 38mm slicks have done surprisingly well these past days. Completely surprised I have avoided crashing, as that is usually a thing I do in these types of conditions.

Also, this is my first full week of commuting this year. A lot of previous weeks were thwarted by having to work downtown where I can walk, but man it would be nice to get a full sunny decent weather week soon.

I thought winter was over!! I put them on a couple weeks ago, Continental Comfort Contact, they are definitely not made for ice and snow.

Anything with "comfort" in the name isn't made for winter! I'll be really happy when I can get these studs off, but glad I had them the past couple days.

Will be interesting to see if we cross paths on the new route for you, we'll actually be riding the same direction for parts of our commute.

Thought I'd snap a few pics to show my starting point:

Looks like I'll be needing a few new parts! That idler pulley in particular looks to be obviously broken, and who knows what else doesn't work!

Step one. Put some cardboard down. You wouldn't find my body if my wife caught me wrenching in my living room...

Take the old seatpost and insert it in the frame and clamp it on the seatpost. would hate for the bike stand to do any damage to the frame.
