a trade with Buffalo will only take place if they don't win the lottery imo. If they win they will have Dahlen & Ristolainen. They wouldn't need another Top pairing dman.
Still think a trade with leafs make most sense.
Dougie or Gio should net - Nylander/Marner + 2019 1st
Brodie hopefully gets Nylander straight up, maybe flames add a LW prospect like Shinkaruk/Poirier.

If you trade Backlund and Brodie for ROR plus you are trading a second pairing D man at a reasonable price, plus a more than decent mid-career centre at a reasonable price, for a fairly expensive two way centre and whatever else Treliving can conjure up. If it was Reinhart I'd be more than OK with it.

I would be fine with the following Dougie trades to the Leafs
1. Marner+2nd+3rd
2. Nylander+1st
3. Kadri+Kapanen+1st

That is a quantity for quality trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

I think the only one the Leafs would do is 3.
They will likely target a cheaper d man.

Kadri is pretty damn good in the last couple seasons. It's probably the most realistic of the three. They will never trade Marner.

Leafs are saying hell no to all of them.
Marner and Nylander are of value, no need to complicate it.
And if it were for Kadri, it’d just be Kadri and Kapanen.

I think I might still do it. Kadri is a little b**** but has grown into a solid 2 way C who can pot 25 a year.
His play VS mcdavid alone would make it worth it for me.

So a 60pt winger = a 50pt right shot D?
Sorry but the Leafs add to Nylander or Marner if they want Dougie.
I would tend to think Nylander would be the more available of the 2 since he gets paid this summer and Marner is a good old Ontario boy.
I think Dougie’s value is being underrated here

Kadri is a back to back 30 goal scorer and is a hard to play against forward with edge. Kapanen is a NHL ready wing prospect and we recoup a first.
Not a bad trade at all

...some of the responses to those proposals show just how undervalued Hamilton is on this board. It's...bizarre.

We'd be trading an elite top pairing d-man for a 2nd/3rd line centre, a late 1st, and a 3rd/4th line winger? It's quality for quantity, as Hamilton is the best piece in that trade by a good margin.

The Flames always get waxed trading with the Leafs. Also, I would be skeptical of Leafs players because of how much they are overhyped by the Toronto-centric hockey media

Has a Canadian team ever won a trade over the Leafs?

Is Kapanen cap out as a bottom 6 winger? I hear his upside is top 6.
Kadri is a 2nd liner not a 2nd/3rd liner.
We have no picks until the 4th round. We need one

Flames aren't trading Hamilton unless it's a Larsson/Hall type deal. It will be a HIGH end forward or not at all.
I think some of you need to look at past trades of quality Dmen entering their prime

The Leafs' first rounder isn't going to play in the NHL for years. It's just not that valuable a commodity.
I rank a first pairing Dman and first line centre about the same as far as impact on the game. Wingers are behind them unless you are talking about the very best, like an Ovechkin, Laine or P. Kane. So Dougie is more valuable than any Leaf player being named.

Calgary only has Dougie because teams wanted to offer sheet him...and he has improved since then.

So you're saying you'd take Hall for Hamilton?
I certainly would!
