David Brent was an incredible charachter but the US office just has such a different tone, and I'm not sure Ricky Gervais would have the acting chops for it.

The only difference between Entourage, Thats 70 show and the office would be that the Office has a much stronger supporting cast and some of who are untapped.

Except, One of those shows is good, one is ok, and one is freakin' HORRIBLE.

That One Night: The Oral History of the Greatest 'Office' Episode Ever
'The Dinner Party' was the most brilliantly excruciating episode of 'The Office.' John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms and more look back on its 10th anniversary

I just finished watching all 9 seasons of it on Netflix recently. The last couple of seasons went downhill, but there were still some pretty funny moments.

The last couple of seasons definitely have their hits and misses but with the big change in characters I think it was still decent. I would probably put The Office up as a Top 5 comedy of all time IMO.

I just finished re-watching it for the third time. If there's such a thing as "comfort TV" then The Office is it.

As much as it got mocked at the start, American Office > British Office in my opinion.

It’s just hard to relate to the British version, I feel.

British office is fine, but it’s only 12 episodes total and some specials.

For me it's easily the most re-watchable show, ahead of even Seinfeld.

The Office was alright but it's no Parks and Rec.

I loved the British Office when it came out, but I agree that the American version surpassed it. I can't even watch the original anymore. It had too much cringe and not enough heart.

I watched the Dinner Party episode last night, I apparently missed it the first time around (because I wasn't watching anything post-writers strike? most likely)
It really is amazingly funny, but also so cringeworthy.
