I say we hire Terry Crisp. He took us all the way to the Stanley Cup parade!

I don't have a problem with Gulutzan looking down and checking the video. In fact, I expect him to do so.

What bugs me - and has been a recurring theme all season - is how often one goal against leads to two (or more). Time-outs are valuable, and we all understand this. However, getting your troops to settle down and start rallying is also important. His APPARENT lack of having his finger on the pulse of this team through these moments and being able to settle them down is something that I think can probably be discussed and/or criticized here.

Other teams knew this as well as the season progressed. They'd really amp up the pressure after a goal.

Again, another failure to adjust from World's Best Hair Coach.

Is Vigneault getting turfed?

I think NYR would be smart to keep him, same way Chicago is keeping Q.

If he gets canned Treliving better be all over him like a dirty shirt.

Up until this season 9 of his last 11 seasons have been 100+ point seasons (pro rated for lock out year) and one of the ones he missed 100 points he had 96.

If he can't coach this team to 100+ point season then you know the team just isn't good enough.

1200+ games coached at the NHL level with 650+ wins. that's a no brainer if he's available.

I liked how Vancouver played under AV. His D was pinching all the time and gave everyone fits. The team scored a ton and was generally successful.

May be a good fit with our mobile D.

AV is a master player deployer. He might even be the best coach in the league at that.

I wonder if the players suddenly thought that if they got into the playoffs again they would end up with another year of GG, so dropped the effort level. I know this goes against the grain of proffesional players dont tank on purpose but it I like a good conspiracy theory.

Who cares? What are his corsi stats? That's all that matters, according to what I read in the other thread.

Quenville is staying CHI. That was announced today. Didn't check previous page to see if it was mentioned.

Quenneville would have been a nice pick up. Wonder if the Flames would have even forked up the 6 million per year.

So, which one of us is right?
There are definitely times when your coach needs to be focused on the ipad. Particularly, when someone whispers in his ear that the play may have been off-side or that he thinks there might be goalie interference. But, like everything else, it comes down to timing and context. Gulutzan is always looking down at that monitor. And it is symptomatic of why he's a failure: because he focuses too much on the analysis at the expense of the coaching.

I find it interesting that you mention trying to understand all the available data, because Gulutzan's iPad obsession is actually costing him valuable input. When he's looking at that screen, he's not looking at the ice. He's not looking at his players. He's not reading them, their mood, their body language. And as a consequence, he can't address negatives or build on positives until the moment has passed. This is what cost him his job in Dallas - he simply was not good at reading his players and managing the game. Putting the monitor in front of him has probably only made him worse in this regard.

Said it before and I'll say it again but I doubt AV leaves NY this year. They are not going to pay him $4 million this year to do nothing when they don't even know really how long of a rebuild is going to be. Think they will try him out with younger group first before showing him the door.

Yeah, but they won't have to pay him $4 million if he takes a job somewhere else, which he most definitely would.

Like I said though, they'd be dumb to fire him IMO.

Gulutzan will be relieved of his duties and Tippett will be the flames next head coach.

I don't buy any of the rumors of Tippett to Dallas. He will be the flames next head coach. You can book it. Right or wrong that is who BT wants as our next head coach

Lindy Ruff or AV. Unless some crazy firing happens.
