this is a hard working team period. But you have to apply the hard work. Hartley applied it to details(like stopping just behind the goalie at the net) and skating. Gulutzan prefers grinding in corners. One is going to produce offense and instill belief. The other... is the Brent Sutter hockey I thought we had escaped.

When the 5th goal went in the camera showed Gully looking up to the sound of the Coyotes howl. I said out loud, that’s the sound of your career ending Gully

If Glen Gulutzan designed a storm drain.

The way this team is set up - you can't even get excited for next year. Collectively, they are gutless and extremely over rated.

Holy crap... Talk about giving up on your coach. I hope they resign GG to 5 years so these players suffer.

what a horrendous season in so many ways. Brutal on home ice. Terrible power play. The arena fiasco hanging over the team like a black cloud. The ever increasing chance that the Islanders would be getting our top ten pick. Nothing felt good this year. Nothing.

If we are this frustrated as fans I can’t imagine how the management group must feel. Truly an abomination of a season.

I'm not sure I blame the players. How many times this year have they shown up and played a great game and still lost because we couldn't buy a goal? Putting in a great effort and still coming up short is incredibly disheartening, and there's been at least a dozen of those. Once it happens enough times you start second-guessing everything you're doing, or questioning whether it's even worth doing in the first place.

Good teams don't just weather the storm when times are tough, but they also make the most of it when they're going well. It's a lot easier to absorb a soft goal when a 20-shot first period ends at 3-0 instead of 1-0. For whatever reason we can't convert stretches of good play into scoring goals. I think the coaching is the primary culprit, but to me our lack of finish is at the root of everything. IMO "winning culture" is just a label that gets retroactively applied to teams that win, rather than something you can create that then helps you win.

Well, that sucks. Cheers guys, thanks for all the GDT/GTs. At least hockey makes the winter go by quicker.

Smith covered up a lot of problems this season, and when he goes so does the team. Without him the Flames would be in Oiler territory. Fire the coaches and bring in someone who hates to lose. Wouldn’t mind a fire sale on the bottom six either.

Fan base around here is far from realistic. The hyperbole being used around here in regards to the overall state of this franchise is mind blowing. The reaction to this season has been proof positive that most on here can't handle adversity even half as well as the players they are calling out for being mentally weak, and is proof that this market simply can't handle the ups and downs of a rebuild they wanted to badly.

There are problems with this team, and it could have done better this year with some different moves / decisions no doubt. But the franchises overall state is far from the catastrophe being described on here. If anything we are far better off than any of us should have dreamed we be at this point in the rebuild. Sucks to miss the playoffs for us fans real bad, but not everything to do with this team is a joke, it just takes time to build a winner when you are starting from scratch which is what this team was post Iginla / Kipper era.

We've had to sit through 5 seasons of this paint drying hockey if you combine the B. Sutter and Gulutzan years. Why are the Flames torturing us?

FU GG. Fire him and Cameron tonight. The rest of the season can't be any worse than this rock-bottom display tonight.
