I hurt my one of my finger... throwing a bottle of water on the floor due to poor referring at the end of the 3rd period... Now I can't bend my finger. It wasn't worth it...

This is a guy that wasn't on anyone's radar to be a head coach when the Flames hired him.
The coaching hires the Flames have done have been extremely underwhelming.

Team is like the opposite version of Playfair's team that couldn't win on the road.

I'm not sure what this team learned this year.

The playoffs are reasonably out of reach. If we do get a change in coaching staff, then this lot of players is going to have to adjust to a new system. That's looking problematic for this crew.

I fear no joy in Flamesville anytime soon.

Typically, sure, but does it have to be? Like, maybe play a 20-minute scrimmage or something?

Flames need to go back to goal scoring school.

That is all.

I thought putting him in felt rushed too. I mean sure, he has carried the team all year. But I don't like rushing guys back. And he hasn't exactly been awesome on home ice this year.

And Rittich had just played two really solid games.

It's hard to argue with putting your number 1 guy in there, but I didn't like it, and my worst fears were quickly realized.

Anyone catch what Smith said post game?

Steinberg was intimating he threw some team mates under the bus...just caught the tail end of what he was saying so maybe i misconstrued what it was.

I’ll respectfully disagree with you. This guy was Treliving’s hand picked guy to lead us to the promised land after a handful of win now moves by the GM. If he’s not fired after 2 years without one playoff win, then Treliving is lost as well. I love BT, I think he’s the best GM we’ve had in 20+ years but it’s painfully obvious that the Gulutzan hiring was an abject failure. He needs to bite the bullet and admit it was a huge blunder. Apparently this roster needs a taskmaster head coach and not a buddy head coach. He doesn’t have to be a full Hartley hard ass, but this team has no identity, no pushback, completely lackadaisical. We need a coach that can get some emotion out of these guys.

This team is broken.

Back from a big road trip, and they fail to even start the game on time. Smith was crap to start the game burg the flames were on their back foot from the opening faceoff. I stopped watching the pvr'd game after the first period.

If the flames don't win next game, I have to say I hope it's a damn blowout as an exclamation point to this loser coaching staff guiding a bad roster.

Nah with that poor home record and no improvement over last year GG should be shown the door in a month. Tippett or AV will the next Flames HC. The least one more year is for Trelivng and Burke. Treliving will be bringing in an experienced coach with an actual coaching resume this time.

Did I miss another GG special? Good. A penny saved is a penny earned.

You don't have the same intensity as in a game. You can practice all you want but until you get in a game there's going to be some rust.

I expected Smith to show some rust but I was hoping the team would continue playing how they did last week and that would make up for it. They didn't though and it put them in a tough spot after the first.

Just heard Gulutzan post game and him getting short with the media after being asked about the weak start.

What a joke. Can't wait till he's canned.

They had more than enough looks to score 4 or more tonight. The quantity and quality was there tonight.

Yes, they had a number of good looks to score a lot more, however, even in many of those good looks a lot of the actual shots they got off many a times even from those prime areas was actually of pretty poor quality.

Right?! Rittich with 2 solid wins and rest, why the rush to get Smitty back for this game in particular? The islanders can score goals. What happened to win and your in?

Sucks that another year of Johnny's and Mony's primes has passed with no playoffs for this team.

If GG stays, I don't like their chances of making the postseason next year either.

If there's an upside to the Flames' woes, it is that it makes me appreciate the Stamps that much more. Better to be in the dance each year and be competing for the big prize than to always be on the outside looking in.

The Flames have 9 wins in the last 29 games.... that's the definition of falling apart down the stretch.

And we need 9 wins in our next 12 games.

It's over boys.
