Default Who should be the 3RW?

Idk about you, but Garnet Hathaway hasn't exactly been captivating me of late. If it was up to me, he would not be in that spot.

The question becomes, who would fill in? I expect that Kris Versteeg might be given a shot when he's back and I think he might take it and run. But who should play there until then?

Hathaway?
Stewart?
Brouwer?
Lazar?
Shore?
Someone else?

Versteeg is the best option 5v5 when healthy.

Shore is the best present option.

Alternatively, I would put Shore on the shutdown line with Backlund and Tkachuk and move Frolik to the Bennett line.

If we’re being honest ferland SHOULD be the 3rw but for the rest of this year that’s just not possible.

Next season they better find someone more skilled for that top line and move ferkland down

I agree that Hathaway hasn't been great lately, but until Versteeg is back I'm fine with him there.

I think that if the Flames can get another good RW this off season Ferland would look great on that line. I know a lot of people say he's only scores because of Gaudreau but I see no reason why he can't score 17 or 18 with Bennett and Jankowski next year. He likely won't get 20 without Johnny but he's still good enough on his own to be a serviceable 3rd liner.

Ferland.

Put Versteeg on the first line and see if he produces.

Lazar or Shore, Hathaway on the 4th imo. I love Hathaway's hustle, but I think the aforementioned two have more offensive skill.

No problem. If Bennett is the first line LW, then your depth is Gaudreau, Frolik, Ferland, Hathaway/Lazar on the RW. That looks good.

Would anyone be opposed to this when Versteeg gets back?
Gaudreau-Monahan-Versteeg
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Jankowski-Ferland

I'm fine with Versteeg and Ferland being interchangeable.

I would.
Jankowski and Bennett need some veteran leadership and skill.... Versteeg fills the bill.

Also, IMO, Ferland has shown he is a good fit with Monahan and Gaudreau.
They will get back to normal.

I really miss Jagr on the line with Sam and Janko. That line was dynamite for a string if games, and they could have been awesome down the stretch.

Reminder that Versteeg was arguably the worst 5v5 forward on the roster before he got hurt. He had 3 (5v5) points in 22 games and the worst possession stats of any regular skater (unless you count Bartkowski). I wouldn't be penciling him in on the top line any time soon.

I'd give Lazar another shot at 3RW and try Shore on the 4th line. Hopefully a healthy scratch wakes Hathaway up and we get the player that forced us to call him up the rest of the way.

Call up Spencer Foo and give him a try . Versteeg can take over when he comes back.

Not right away. Versteeg will likely be a bit rusty. The top line has been playing well the last week or so, no need to disrupt them now.

Maybe for the last few games if they go cold though. Then I would be totally open to Versteeg on that line.

Lol like it or not Ferland is the top choice. Why does Ferly get ragged around here? He more than earns his money.
