This absolutely causes a problem in developing officials. Would love to hear an informed perspective on this.

Yes, I 100% agree. I all but stopped officiating kids except in spring hockey just for the cash. The kids treat officials like crap because they see the parents and the coaches doing it. It spreads and it's that way in adult hockey too. It's a huge problem and it's frustrating being a referee because of it.

Our entire D core outside of Giordano is a bunch of pretenders right now....I dont feel comfortable with any of them on the ice and its quite sad given our supposed “depth”

Goaltending was poor, the team has to learn to hit the net and reffing that has to be the worst I've seen. That was the game. Move on
|
You're right. The Flames are practically home & cooled for a playoff spot. There is zero reason for concern of any kind.

What does it say that our supposed 'depth' suddenly forgot how to play over the last 2 years?

Man let it go. Let’s discuss the actual game.
I honestly felt glass was much more effective than Stewart. 8 has been fairly underwhelming personally, and I actually though glass had a ton of jump. Seemed to give the flames a toughness factor early before the unraveling.

I had a bad feeling about the game when Glass got a penalty for hitting, although Backlund getting the shorty helped that. I do hope quotes are posted as I really want to know the refs explanation for tossing Gaudreau let alone giving him an embellishment penalty for getting or almost getting harpooned in the throat. Tossing a teams best player in a game that has playoff race implications is just crazy. It went from Flames should be going on a short 2 man advantage to best player being tossed. Just crazy.

There is a difference between concern and calling the season after every loss
personally I think if Smith comes back they have a chance

You refuse to engage the Bennett conversation on any level other than the surface. You disregard circumstance as having any value in player development and levels of success - so whatever. Enjoy your passionate displeasure with the player, but not everyone has to agree with you. You want to make a case for why he's so awful, dive a bit deeper and let's have a conversation. Let's talk about the history of the 4th overall pick, the strength of the draft year, why his draft spot has coloured your own personal level of expectations for the player - I'm into it, so are others. But to constantly just hear "he isn't scoring enough! bust! bust! bust!"...whatever. I'm done with that conversation.
Also, yeah - my avatar is of Bennett, he's a Calgary Flame - and he's pulling the monkey off his back. It's a fun picture. You seem to be saying I have a certain bias (which hey, I've even admitted to - because I want to see all young developing Calgary Flames succeed), big whoop. I'm a fan of the team and the players.

Predicting that they won't make the playoffs is not the same as saying they have no chance at all...

Bennett isn’t why we lost. Why is it still being discussed?

bet was win 5 of 6 OR make the playoffs. You are always so optimistic and berate posters who aren't yet when you get a chance to back it up you say it's a terrible bet and need odds.
Call it what you want but you went from eternal optimist to realist really quick once money became involved

Fair enough.
I'm sure he's a good human being. I just hate him as our coach and wish he was gone months ago.

I hope all Flames fans wish the team would win for the coach, like his style or not
I think those who place all the blame on the coach will be in for a sad season next year if the coach is fired and no major personal moves are made.
On one hand most people say the forwards are not good enough...laughably so on the right side and in the bottom six.
On the other hand this coach is terrible for being the Flames being a bubble team with so much talent.
Which is it?
