I would only move Brodie if you are keeping GG as coach. I have said many times that this coach does not play to his player"s strengths. They HAVE to play a flawed system and I wonder if that causing the hesitation in their play. Whatever. This team will never be any more successful than they are now with this coaching staff. Middle of the road team that could make the playoffs.....or not.
I think our GM has done a fantastic job assembling the team. The coach decision is his biggest blemish. Is GG a better coach then what we see? Maybe...but not for this group. Unfortunately, we have tied ourselves to this ship which has felt off (for this group) for I feel his entire tenor
GM has done a fantastic job???
He talks about scoring being an annual concern, yet his answers have all been bottom 6 retreads. He completely miscalculated the quality of his defence. He's handed out high picks for overrated players in hamonic and Hamilton (yes, I said it).
This is a one player team, that the previous guy drafted in the 4th round no less.
Treliving sounds great in all his interviews but the results of his hockey team building skills are pretty average. Actually, you basically have to be average to make the playoffs in the west (mathematically) so it's actually below average compared to the crucial peers.
Coach hire bad, Building a backend that's about average and blowing 2x1st rounders and 3 or 4 x 2nd rounders to achieve that, is pretty bad.

I used to be a GG supporter and thought that he wasn’t so bad and that it couldn’t possibly get worse but this Eason has shown me one thing and that is that the players are being forced into a system where they have to think too much about positioning or who to cover or where they should skate to. And at a certain point they can’t just concentrate on playing hockey.
Overthinking is the reason we see them delay for a split second over a good shooting opportunity on the pp and in the nhl that split second is what wins or loses you games.
GG has to go. And it should happen now. Bring DARYL back for the last 18 games as interim coach and find a replacement this summer
Pitt might be tough but otherwise, all of them. Serious
pittsburgh MIGHT be tough? Gotta take those homer glasses off. This team is likely going to be so scared to lose against NYR that they will lay and egg ... and then lose to everyone except the absolute doormats in Ottawa and Edmonton.

Question for you, if you expect them to lose, why do you even watch?

If Smith is actually back soon the Flames will have a good shot at winning most of those games IMO
People expected to beat the Avs...it was always gonna be a tough game. They have 1 loss in their last 13 home games and honestly the Flames shot themselves in the foot.
We shall see...people are calling the season now so they can say "I told you so" must be a fun life
About the same as the rest of the group. Undisciplined, no real heart or push but he was still throwing hits in the third which is more than can be said about half our team

What the hell are we going to do with those picks at this point? Yes it sucks to give up, but with Mono and JG hitting prime and Gio not getting younger, he went out and got two highly sought after D, on good contracts. The picks last year and this year will not be in position to help the team for 1-3 years. You’d be the first to complain if he did nothing to improve the team.
Sorry but every team has strengths and weaknesses. Only one team wins every year. Your not going to have 4 forward lines of studs, a blue line made up of Norris winners and Veznia goaltending at the same time.
Probably should've spent the first and seconds on that RW shooter, which they haven't addressed for who knows how long now. Since Iggy departed.
The forward group wasn't at a point where going all out to add that extra beef to the defense was going to push them over the top. Hamonic's game doesn't provide enough to move the needle on the team, really. Someone who could score and take the pressure off of Monahan to be the go to guy would've moved it a lot more.
That big bad blue line has nothing to work with from the forwards, and instead has to help pick up the slack for the forward group cause it's starved for finish and talent.
Which of these games do you think the Flames will win.
vs NY Rangers
@ Pittsburgh
@ Buffalo
@ Ottawa
vs NY Islanders
vs Edmonton
I can see us winning all of those except the Edmonton game. For some reason that dumpster fire has our number lately, and it seems like the Flames are incapable of containing McDoofus. Not to mention, the Oilers are gonna treat that game like it's game 7 of the finals, so you know they're gonna bring it.
The Pittsburgh game will be tough, but the Flames usually play well against top teams, so I'm honestly not too worried about that one.
