You can put it in the loss column, another GG special.
Terrible coach who always underachieves produces a terrible underachieving season. For anyone who's been paying attention and hasn't had their head buried in the sand this should come as absolutely no surprise.
Treliving has sabotaged every single season he's been in charge with terrible goaltending and/or terrible coaching. You don't win in this league with bad coaching or goaltending - period.
Also Travis Hamonic is at best a stay at home #4 dman. Arguably not worth 2 2nd round picks, let alone an unprotected 1st in a deep draft.
You can't spell overrated without TRE.

There is always another game. The truth of the matter is this team cannot play under adversity, and is weak as hell. Some skills but lots of passengers. Goal-tending is shaky. I am not confident that we can even get a win over the Oilers in the coming weeks. So sad!

Hundred percent. They need to win 5 of next 6. Thankfully, 5 of next 6 are against non playoff teams. 3 of those against 3 bottom feeders.
This ain't over.

As for the officiating - GG is one of the most timid coaches in this league and he gets called for bench minors in consecutive games for showing a pulse, which we've all been clamouring for him to do. What the #### ever, man.
Not even going to talk about Johnny getting penalized for being able to feel pain, then ejected because they were offended by their incompetence being called out.

Pipe dream. This team is a .500 team at best. They will fade hard.

Two of the goals the Avalanche scored today were Grade S chances.
Another one was a power play snipe by a guy scoring his 30th goal of the season with twenty games left to go, after a deflating and idiotic offensive zone penalty.
That leaves one goal, that "maybe" the goalie wants back.

Are you watching the on ice product? What makes you think they play .700 hickey across the finish line? BecUse that is what they’ll need to do.

Is it at the draft where we all realize the Oilers arent the only Alberta team hosed by the Islanders? I wouldn’t do the Hamonic trade again despite him being a stellar person.

Guy has a save percentage under .900 now...he had a nice start but this is the NHL. Goalies are EXPECTED to make saves. The other guy did
not all his fault but I don't have much confidence in the guy. Goal 2 was a backbreaker

Flash Walken made a great point in the GT about official abuse in hockey and how it is systemic starting at the minor leagues.
I have coached and watched all manner of youth sports. For some reason, hockey officials, in my experience, receive the greatest vitriol from parents, coaches, fans and players. My son participated in the silver sticks tourney and I saw numerous ejections.
This absolutely causes a problem in developing officials. Would love to hear an informed perspective on this.

You get what you pay for, and the Flames went bargain bin shopping for a coach.
Good thing Glass was in the lineup, solid call. Thank god we had our timeout after giving up 4 goals in 12 minutes.
Failing to lottery protect the Hamonic pick, and wasting 2 years on a pathetic coach should cost Trelieving his job.

They don't have the speed to come in waves the way the Avs did in the second. Two line team that can't push the pace.
They can still make it but I want to see some youth, skill and speed injected into this lineup. Treliving's all in strategy is headed towards being terribly misguided.

How about young official Jon McIsaac going out of his way to show off to the vet Dan O’Halleran? He was probably shaking in excitement before the game to get the chance to show one of his idols what a good referee he is. That call on Gaudreau was absolutely pathetic and I’m sure Dan O’Halleran was embarrassed to even be on the ice while all that went on - and even worse, young McIsaac couldn’t figure out which players should be in the box so O’Halleran had to go over and help sort it out.
The youngster completely lost his composure trying to make an impression, costing the Flames their best player for the final 12 minutes of the game and will face no repercussion for doing so.
Edit: just noticed the linesmen were Greg Devorski and Shane Heyer. So 5,000 games between three of the officials and the youngster. No wonder he was trying everything he could to get noticed.
