You need to look back at the posts on this forum in 2015-16, when Bennett was being started as a wing. Posters were screaming that he was being wasted at that position. Mind you, when that happened, he was with Backlund and Frolik 57% of the time, players who consistently elevate the games of their linemates. The second most common combo was Bennett, Granlund and Hudler. So hardly "AHL quality".

In 2016-17, even strength he played C with Brouwer and Versteeg the most (36%) - bad but not AHL quality, and Versteeg in particular had a decent year. But second most (23.3%) was with Gaudreau (and Chiasson).

Agreed. Mistakes weren't that horrendous. First goal was a 3 on 1 down low, where he was expecting a pass across (As was I), second goal was due to a wide open Seguin on a power play, not many goalies stop that when the shot whizzes by your ear.

He was not bad. But the 1st goal is the junior goalie mistake. Theres a rule you should never cheat on a play. IF you do it, you open the angle for the player with the puck. You never do that. If he passes to the other player, there is still chance your defence man will stop the pass, or the reciever will miss the net, or you manage to slide there in time for amazing save. But if you cheat, you basicly open the easiest way to the goal.

Second goal was Gillies unable to stop a puck at the boards, then being kinda slow to get back into crease and square himself against Seguin. But that is a small mistake which happens to the best.
