[Rumour] Are the Flames eyeing a couple names on the Sabres?

It seems there are a couple peeps here who need a little clarification. As far as a possible kane deal is concerned, I have heard a few things with people I know. I honesty aren't all that familiar with the rules about disclosing sources, or what kind of source. I guess that compelled me to speak in more certain terms than I realized. So i will state things framed more as an opinion. Fair?

Given the facts I feel like a lot of the names being thrown around don't make a lot of sense:

- ROR: we just re-signed Backlund to a long term deal signifying he should be our 2nd/3rd line center for at least the next 3 years. Jankowski is young and has put up 11 goals as a rookie and there are still 19 games to go. ROR also has a massive cap hit, if we want to keep cap space to re-sign Tkachuk, Ferland etc. then this doesn't make much sense unless significant salary goes the other way.

- Okposo: cap hit and term for a soon to be 30 year old player doesn't fit unless, like above, a player like Brouwer goes the other way.

- Kane: I agree we shouldn't judge players entirely on their past as they may have matured and grown over the years. However, given the Flames strongly valuing character and players that give back to the community I don't know I see a fit here, even if he has matured.

- Reinhart: this is the one name that makes a lot of sense to me, we need younger RHed players that can take draws and play in the top 9. He fits the bill.

I would love to add a guy like ROR but he wouldn't come cheap and doesn't really fit a huge need outside of an outstanding FO%.

I think you’re wrong. Kane has quite the rap sheet going for him including allegations on sexual assault, assaulting women, fights with teammates and etc etc et . It’s not just a couple hokey pictures.

I’d bet that the Sean Avery’s, the Matt Cooke’s and etc would elicit similar levels of vitriol if situations were swapped.

I want the Flames to do a trade that signigcantly improves now and going forward too. The Flames are pushing here; just 1 point out of a home playoff spot and an easier than others schedule down the stretch. If the Flames make the right trade it could be the exact right message to send to the team and the fans. I hope something comes up that Treliving knows is a win and I am confident that he will find that trade.

Honestly if we make the post season this year Hamonic is a win give how he has played the last 30 or so games while covering for an at times lost TJ Brodie.

I'm optimistic we get something done here.

No kidding.. Montreal's main trading pieces are gone now? Plekanec is all they've traded. The could still dish Byron, Gallagher, Pacioretty, Andrew Shaw, Logan Shaw, Galchenyuk, Benn as per the going rumours and rumour mill.
