right... no universe does that make sense.

$6M for a one-dimensional player that is going to be 30 in April. Brutal idea.

Bennett
Fox
Gilles
Breaking it down, Fox easily gets you UFA Kane, the little extra gets you Lehner for Gilles, Bennett for ROR and retained $ a wash.
Lehner, because Smith is out for the year. Only thing I can’t place is Jankowski in this unless he’s part of the package or replaces Stajan at 4L center once Stajan hits 1000 games
|
Breaking it down it makes zero sense, you're adding about $13 million to Calgarys cap. I also would't want to pay $9 million for goalies next year.

Where did I say i have a source on the Kane trade? Say I do, why would I have to divulge that info if I never explicitly claimed to have one? Is it my fault people rile things up in their own minds and get a special feeling from reading a few words from someone they don't know? The hockey world is a tricky business. Even I can be surprised sometimes.

Maybe Stone + Jankowski + Gillies + Poirier or Kylington
For
RoR (25% retained) + Kane (extended) or Reinhart.
Wild ass guess.

No kidding.
It's humorous to read people saying what they are.
I like the guy, and I also think he might become a decent player at some point, but right now he is truly just "a guy".
Every team in the league has a similarly ranked player within their organization.

I wouldn't mind Okposo but $6M is pretty expensive.

Shooting a career low 7.7% on a team with arguably the worst puck moving blue line in the NHL. While being a RHS forward on a team with too many of them between himself, Eichel, and Reinhart filling overlapping offensive niches, a non-issue on the Flames who haven't had a top six skilled RHS forward since Iginla and whose future hopes lie in Matthew Phillips and Eetu Tuulola.

all for 6 Million as he enters his 30s for four more years.

You are describing every top six forward contract over 30, minus two years.

You and I have very different ideas of what makes sense.

Well, I mean, if the idea of, in some universe, simultaneously dropping Brouwer and adding a legitinate top 6 forward does not make sense to you, that's cool.
Quote:
In a few years we're going to be spreading some big money around to younger players

And thus any trade for Okposo or ROR or even Kane would obviously have extranneous salaries like Stone, Brouwer, and/or Frolik going the other way.
Quote:
and that contract has the potential to be Brouwer level bad.
|
Well, no. You are comparing what is probably a solid first liner to what was probably at his absolute best a solid 3rd liner, who are signed through to the same age at the end of their deals. Even factoring in a sudden decline you'd have a serviceable top 9 forward in the final years, which is a worst case scenario.

I loved when this pic first came out and one of our posters here had the brilliant quip about Kane's play right after he signed: "is that new contract weighing on his shoulders?" comment. Pure gold.

Look at how you're wording things:

Sometimes they are legit though. There is a time-tested solution - Insane can PM a mod confidentially to confirm his or her bona fides, if they exist

This issue people have is you're not presenting the information as an opinion, you're presenting it as a fact and have provided no sources or connections to back up the facts.
