Considering the Oilers very recent success against us is only last season and this one, the answer to your question is yes. This is Monahan's fifth season in the NHL.
While it sucks losing to such an embarrassing team, it's easy to forget prior to last season we absolutely dominated the head to head match up against Edmonton for the better part of the decade. Dominated. To the tune of many jersey throwing blow-outs. Monahan was involved in several of those in his first three seasons, and will surely be part of many more to come.

Monahan benefits from having an excellent passer in Johnny on his wing.
Johnny benefits from having a clutch sniper as his centre.
Monahan is the best centre this team has had since Nieuwy left. Arguably the third best Flame skater in that time period, behind Johnny and Iggy. He isn’t flashy, he can be streaky, but he is one of the most talented guys in the league, and a top 10 centre in my book. Now that’s out of the way I think I’ll toss in a slice.
