Unfortunately I missed this one tonight and only caught the highlights, but that 2nd Nashville goal looked like the play was offside. Did they take a second look at it at all?

Watched it but can’t claim I wasn’t distracted a few times. I don’t think so

No matter, they won!

Not that you could tell on TV. In fact Ball and York didn't even mention it at all. I was wondering about that too.

But you know with Gulutzan's affection for challenging things, you can probably bet that he had a second look at it.

Calgary finishes 4-2-0 on this road trip. They’re now 6-0-1 in their last 7 trips to Nashville.

Road record up to 17-7-5 (0.672), still the NHL’s second best (Boston 16-5-4, 0.720). #Flames
Time to chop down that Bruins road percentage next week.
I call BS that their aging core just suddenly went through a time portal to 2011. We can play them better.

On the current roster, Brouwer seems like the best fit. I think his style is pretty much the same as Backlund and Frolik and they would be an effective unit. The only downside is Frolik shifts to the left side. If the Flames are looking to take a little more risk and look down the line, they could reach to the farm and bring up Mangipange to play on the left side. They could also consider bringing up Foo or Klimchuk and see what they have there as well. The other option is to find someone in trade if they are really being picky. I don't think it really matters, as Backlund and Frolik are the natural pair you are trying to find a complimentary piece for, and those two drive their line and will improve whoever is on it with them.

Was the Nashville pushback late due to some serious flames blunders, or just a good team pushing back with a the man-advantage helping out?
Either way, GFG! Makes the evening of contemplating my dogs lifespan a little easier. And, yes, let’s make more noise for the boys at home. In general, events around town resemble morgues and synagogues than they do fun, enjoyable events.
Synagogues are full of singing and warm greetings. Not really the example you were going for I think.

Travelling and didn't get to watch the game, but what an amazing result. 4-2 on this road trip was huge and sets this team up to push for the playoffs.

League average special teams makes a contending team.

Great road trip

What does this have to do with the atmosphere of the game? Nashville has been successful for years with growing the game and fans in the area.

The bottom pairing as a whole has really come together. How nice it is to have 3 (mostly) reliable pairings at this point. I still think they could use a bit more offence from the backend. But at the very least if the point totals are going to be down, you best have a backend that can lock things up and move the puck quickly. It's nice to see the D rounding into the form Treliving envisioned it being.

And Travis Hamonic is really starting to become one of my favourites. I can see why Isles' fans are in love with the guy. He plays hard, honest, and is a rock on the backend. He's also a quality human being and everyone loves him. With each passing game, that trade looks more and more like a great move by our GM.

Can't say enough about Tkachuk or Rittich either. Both players clutch. And nice to see the Flames finally win a specials teams battle. Just when I thought the 5 on 3 might falter and lose us the game in the end, it scores a big goal. Then the PK manages to kill of the best home PP in the league, only allowing them 1 shot. Biggest PK of the year.

I feel the need to say something important about Tkachuk:

He is very good.

That is all.

I've been waiting to see what a Bennet - Janko - Tkachuk line would look like, and sure wasn't disappointed.

I know that it would mean breaking up the 3M line, but maybe it's worth a try at some point? 3M hasn't been as out of this world as they had been last season. Maybe switch it up a bit? You can always go back

Poor Monahan - he should be being celebrated for a two or three goal night, but instead he has to be satisfied with a couple assists. He had 6 shots, and at least three were grade A.

Not much said about Hamilton so far, but he had a strong game, and his PP goal was a snipe.

Was so impressed by Monahan the other night in Chicago. Had not seen him live for over a year, and his game is far more mature now.

He's underrated defensively - he carries a huge load in his own zone with Gaudreau and, to a lesser extent, Ferland, who just aren't defensive minded at all. He wins his share of faceoffs. Plus, he just knows where to go.

Powerplay nets us 2 goals in this game. Without those goals, we lose the game 3-2.

If the powerplay had contributed a few more goals in the previous dozen or so games, we would neck-in-neck Vegas for division lead.

That's the extra positive sign in all this besides the win. A few days ago that game would have fizzled away simply because they would have lost the special teams battle.

Suddenly the Flames have a 20% PP in the last 8 games to go along with a 5-3 record. Carrying this through the next set of home games is a must and will allow this team to finally create some much needed separation in the division.

Exactly, it needs to produce.
Flames are as good as any team in West, assuming special teams.
